Flex fuel setup (sensor and wiring) Dave Steck sells a plug and play kit
and, depending on where your power level is now and what fuel system you have, you will likely need: bigger injectors more fuel pump (and/or a boost a pump) and enabling flexfuel in your tune Last edited by blake-b; 06-26-2015 at 02:12 AM. |

Well I'm making 610 to the wheel on stock fuel pump with out any type of boost a pump. I'm running fast 85# injectors. I'm only on 8lbs of boost but I'm bumping up to 10ish lbs.
I have a zl1 pump sitting here ready to go in but before I do I wanted to see my options on E85. You have a link for this plug and play kit?

Contact him here. He'll probably tell you to ditch the ZL1 pump and get a squash fuel system. http://www.squashperformance.com/201...ystem_p_8.html Additionally you'll probably need ID1300's if you want to have some room to grow. You could probably make due with ID1000's but that's a question for Steck. It gets expensive quick to run E85, but it's worth it! I just installed the squash fuel system in my car in preparation for running E85 next season when my motor's built!

you have a couple diff. options squash or fore, I went with level 2 fore dual pump system, id1300's, gm flex fuel sensor, fore has fluid lines that package with their flex fuel sensor kit that worked great with my setup. Jannetty racing has flex fuel sensor kit that works, as well as dsx tuning, dsx tuning was backordered when tried getting their flex fuel sensor kit.

Noob question. What is this flex fuel sensor and why would you need it if you run nothing but E85?

Flex fuel uses a sensor to automatically just for ethanol percent. So you can run anything from pure gas to E100. If you only run e85 then there isn't much of an advantage, but for $300 or so for the setup, being able to fill up anywhere, blend, or even have the car adjust for E70 in the winter or if the e85 isn't pure e85 is well worth the cost. E85 at the pump varies and the sensor can adjust for e70 to e90, and if you can't get e85, just pump whatever in.

Just for the record.
A properly tuned e85 car will not notice a difference going from e83 to e70.. That said adding the sensor is badass and very handy. |

Other relevant tables don't have that granularity, but I think it still affects performance. I drove out of state yesterday where there aren't any e85 stations. So I topped off with gas. It's nice to have the FF sensor and let the car automatically adjust.
