2014 Twin Turbo 1Le

Hey everyone, in the very near future I am planning on boosting my 2014 1le with Hellion Twin Turbos. I was wondering if anyone had recomendations on how much power various parts of the car (stock) can handle. Also if any parts I should look into come to mind, please feel free to tell me. (Specific parts and brand names would be appreciated) I do not plan on pushing more than 600hp to the wheels, keep that in mind. Thanks alot!

You can achieve 600whp extremely easy with TT and the hellion is no exception. However, if only 600 (I say only relative to this conversation haha) is your goal, you can achieve a 'just as safe' build with any supercharger and you'll leave with a little more money still in your pocket.

I have 3 settings on my Hellion setup right now... 6 PSI, 8 and 10. I'm over that 600 number with just 6, and at 660 at 10. She gets meth injection in July which should be worth around another 100 whp (750 total or so).

If you'd like further details or have questions, feel free to PM me.

I was only saying 600rwhp to be conservative because I want as much power without having to put another $5k down on forged parts that can hold up, but is the rest of your car stock? (Your bottom end, rods, pistons, etc.?)

Yes. Everything else is bone stock. It is tough for some (especially the die hard blower guys) to understand how that much power can be safe with TT's. They are just WAY more efficient than that of any supercharger. Technology is a wonderful thing.

Wait, you can leave it bone stock and add a turbo + tune and not hurt the engine?

I don't think there is any way to go wrong with the TT setups that are available for our cars. Any one of them is going to be top notch. The important part is to team that with a top notch installer, top notch tuner and top notch supporting mods. Go cheap on any of those and you'll have problems from the get go.

Considering the type of driver you are, how you plan to use it, the fact it is a 1LE and a well balanced car out of the box as it is after all, adding 100lb weight up top, and at the front, would bother me a lot. A TT mounted below the engine, and further back on the other hand...that alone would be the dealer breaker for SC on your application for me.

I have this setup on my car, i love it. If you're looking to make 600 to start that wont be a problem. My car made 650 rwhp on a dynojet dyno @ 7lbs (wastegate) at the time I only had a ZR1 pump, F.A.S.T 85lb injectors, a mild cam, npp exhaust and a decent tune

hmmmm, did you factor in the cost of headers with a SC setup?

All of the SC dyno numbers I see posted up on here, are with supporting mods, the most obvious of which is headers. I don't know of anybody with a SC and a stock manifold, lol.

On the other hand, many of the TT setups we see on here with posted dyno numbers, are essentially a TT kit, bolted on to an otherwise stock car, zero supporting mods.

I did an AGP kit on my 1LE. I have 615rwhp 631tq @ 10 pounds with a very conservative tune. Completely stock LS3 with just bigger injectors.

OP what do you plan to do with your car? Drag race? Track? While fun the turbos do not excel at either of these. It is true at any power level the turbos are easier on your engine than any SC. And while you can get more power easier with turbos, you need much more power to match an SC car in a drag race.

Here is what I can say about all this, bring a big wallet and at the end your car is not worth any more than a stock 1LE and will be harder to sell. If you just want some fun and do not mind spending $15-25K then go for it. While you can initially go a bit cheaper than that, if you drive the car hard you will need all of that.

Two common upgrades:
1. Diff and axles - $5-7K
2. Your first Dual Dic clutch + install - $2,500 (Go Street Slayer for sure)
