Didn't ever think I would see a thread like this! Your Shelby has you spoiled for power! I would think that not only would you have to get a transmission, shifter, drive shaft mod, cross member, but possibly a new ECM and programming. I'm sure it's possible, but that sounds expensive. Good luck!

That's sacrilegious I'd agree with Ragnar, it could be an expensive adventure and you could end up with all sorts of glitches. I think you already have your answer when you admitted you should be in another car. Cut your losses and move on. Good luck either way

probably easier to buy the automatic and convert to a 1le package. which i think is doable.

It would be the same as any of the other SS guys that have swapped to a th400 or other auto. I'd bet there are some threads on the topic

Sell your 1LE and get an auto SS or ZL1. You'll spent more time, money, and aggravation converting your car to auto. Plus the 1LE was never built for the dragstrip.

The 3.91 gears would also be a bit much for the auto. I'm with the others, sell it and get a ZL1 auto. You'll be happier...

Don't convert....major headaches. Like others have said, just sell it and get an Automatic ZL1 or SS or just wait on a 2016 SS with auto.

Just row those gears man... Going auto is the easy way out. Lots of cars out there with a lot more than 700whp that are still banging gears.

If I switched to an auto, it would be for a dual clutch auto only. A dual clutch works like having two 3 speeds in the same transmission. When you are in first, you are also already in seconded. As soon as you or the computer hits the button your instantly in seconded. When your in seconded your also in 3rd, button hits and instantly in 3rd, etc etc etc.
That is lightning fast, that is blink of eye fast. |
