Advice needed in used Z/28

Ok, im looking at a used 14 Z with 5K on the clock.

I havent looked at the car yet because its about 3 1/4 hrs away.

Might be making the trip Monday morning.

Wife gave me the go ahead for the deal, but since a great deal of you guys have owned yours. Maybe you can give me some advice on things to look for.

Example, front splitter for scrapes.....ect.

If it's that red one in Pa, it's a CTF car. Regardless,if there's one car I would never buy with that level of mileage it would be one of these. Could have been tracked, and the skill set of the previous operators is very diverse. Whatever the cosmetic appearance, the car can only tell you so much about the mechanical..impossible to gauge the level of abuse(overrevved, burnouts, off track excursions) I would highly suggest spending more and buying new, or from an original owner. Good luck!

It would worry me. Can get a new one at some dealerships right now for close to $60k.

Ask for a carfax , how long did they own it? Look underneath the car that'll tell you a lot. Burn outs etc. Look at the tires if they're original and don't look abused that's a good sign. A lot of people buy those cars, they never see a track they decide it's too impractical and trade it. Besides its in the northeast can only drive so many months of the year..

If its at a GM store then it should be sold under the certified program which includes additional warranty coverages plus a more detailed inspection checkout. But nothing is better than your own intuition once you've had a chance to kick the tires in person, just use your best judgment and be willing to walk away if you see something out of sorts on the car or with the deal. Good Luck and enjoy the ride home.

It its the same one.

I would love to pick one up from an original owner, but I need to put my SS down for a payment.

This is kinda true, the cheapest 1 that I found 14 is almost 62K and over 1K miles away...

I don't mind to travel, but that's a bit far.

Everything close to me are in the 80K price range.

The car fax shows that the 1 st owner in MI.

And thats what I was banking on, that the original owner thought it was impractical

Thanks, it does come with the additional warranty because its from a GM dealership.

Hope this works out.

Its like a test mule, they put hundreds of thousands of miles on them to see how they hold up.

Then sell them.

Don't hold your breath on this. No more LS7's so dealers will be more likely to hold the prices up on the 15 models.

Wishful thinking from a z28 owner. The cars flat out not desired and in another year they'll still be sitting on dealer lots

OP, you stated that the ones close to you are at 80kplus , and that you know off some at around mid 60k ,but at 1k miles away . Lets say that we are talking about close to 20k difference , i will drive you there and back for half the diffrence in price , win win !

Sorry you do not own one [a Z/28] and I do not know where you come up with "flat out not desired" which must be your thoughts on a Z/28.
