SLICKS ON 17 INCH WHEELS
I have a set of 17 inch weld wheels and was wondering if anyone has ran a set of these slicks on there Z? I would like to get a pair but need to know if they will clear without rubbing anywhere.

Hoosier makes the only 17" slick. I run them on both my ZL1's they clear everything. No issues. I can't see the tire on your link but it must be the 28X10R17

It's working now. Strange. Lol. But yes run those tires on both cars. We can usually 60' in the mid 1.5's on them

That is what I wanted to hear! I have had my car for sale and it has not sold so I am really thinking about starting to get going with the mods. I would like to be at 650whp and that is as far as I want to go with it. My last Z was 711 at the rear so I will need some of those slicks for these tracks in my area because they do not put much prep on them.

This is the same set up I have and I did have some interference. When you get the wheel balanced, have the car there as the location of the wheel weight can cause some interference. Also, I ended up having bead screws installed because the tire was slipping on the rim. Well the inside screw hats were making contact with the Lower Control Arm.
I changed to BMR rear LCAs and have better clearance now. Last edited by Nickey31; 07-17-2015 at 11:25 PM. |

You can also grind down the bolt on the LCA arm for some clearance if you don't wanna buy new ones. I totally agree about the wheel weight placement. Are you going to drag week this year?!?!

Hey how the heck are you? I remember you! I watched you last year and met you at tulsa but I did not get to see you finish. I doubt I will make the drag week because work is in the way now. How about you, you going? |

Sorry to jack the thread!
I'm doing great, I won't be there this year since I've got a newborn due in 4 weeks! Hopefully next year! We placed in the quick 32 last year, but I couldn't stay to do the shootout on Saturday cause I had to get back to work. The Larry Larson ZL1 got a spot this year, can't wait to see what that thing does!

Congrats on the little one!! I have not heard or read about larson having a ZL this year. I will search and read about that. I would like to do the drag week deal maybe next year. I think that would be a blast. Keep in touch.
