2010 Camaro SS TR6060 Reverse Lockout Inactive
While driving into work one day last week I noticed that when I was shifting into 5th that I passed it completely and started to go down the reverse track. It didn't feel right so I didn't engage but I tested it again at parking lot speeds and confimed that I was infact able to attempt to go into reverse while moving forward. This immediately told me that my reverse lockout wasn't working correctly.
After troubleshooing it some more I eventually disconnected the negative battery cable for a few minutes then reconnected. After that, the reverse lockout started to work as expected. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Does anyone know what could have caused the reverse lockout to deactivate? The only way to clear ths issue was disconnecting the battery. Engine cycles didn't do the trick. Any info would be greatly appreciated...

Nice catch! Sounds like for some reason the ECM had an error in the keep-alive memory that was keeping the lockout solenoid energized. As for this happening to me or within my social circle, the answer is no.

Well, when I got into my car after work today to drive home, I realized that neither my CAGS or Reverse lockout were working. They both kicked in after I got about half way home (~20 mins). Obviously there is something else going on here.
Anyone know of any leads to pursue?

There is not that much to the circuit as you can see. The power to both solenoids comes from "RELAY KR74" and "FUSE 7.5A F14U". All the ECM does is supply the ground to allow them to energize. When I initially responded after looking it up, I figured it was logical solution to the problem that you were experiencing. Being that they are staying energized, you may be able to test and see is there is a short to ground somewhere.
1: Jacking up the car and remove the terminal connectors to both the skip shift and reverse lockout solenoids. 2: With a multimeter, perform a resistance check to ground on wires "587GY / TERMINAL B" and "5494OG / TERMINAL A". With the keys out of the ignition and ECM off you should get a open link or read something in the kilo or mega Ohm range. 3: Alternatively, you can also test both terminal leads on the solenoids themselves and test to ground there to see if they are internally grounding out. Attached are some schematics and locations of the items in question. I hope this helps. Oh, one last thing. You're not running an aftermarket tune or have a skip-shift eliminator installed by any chance? Last edited by cajun1le; 08-19-2015 at 08:35 PM. Reason: resize image |

This is great info. I was actually suspecting a problem with my BCM in the first place and checked a bunch of fuses under the hood and under the dash but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Your diagram will definitely help me dig a little deeper.
I'm running the stock tune and don't have a skip shift eliminator because I think its a waste of money. When I see CAGS activate I just push the clutch and rev the engine and it goes away... :-) Thanks again for the help!

Could my problem be the solenoid it self? If so, how hard is it to replace?

I finally got around to replacing the Reverse Lock-out solenoid and when I got the old one off there was transmission fluid coming out of the connecter on the back. I'm guessing that this had something to do with it it working intermittently.....
