Which catch can with vararam intake?
I have a 2010 RS that I bought a few months ago. It has around 40K miles. I keep reading about the benefits of a catch can, but I have a few questions.
First, is it worth it to put one on now? People say to get it right after you buy it, but mine is 5 years old and as stated as around 40 thousand miles. Second, I am about to install a vararam intake, and was wondering which catch can would work/look best. I would prefer it to be on the driver side, since I will have a big hole where the factory air box is. I saw that phastek has one for fairly cheap, around $100, but I don't know if it is a decent one. I was also looking at the Elite Engineering one from jdpmotorsports. I want a good product but don't want to spend more than $200. Any suggestions? |

Don't go with the cheapest one. A beer can will catch oil but the good ones catch & trap more of it. Go with Apex or Elite Engineering. You can get one for both sides if you really want to catch all that gunk. But put one on the "dirty side" if only getting one.
You may want to do an upper induction cleaning since you have a few miles on it without a catch can but adding one now is better than not at all. Once you see the gunk it traps you will be glad.

I'm running an RX can with my Vararam. It's never too late for a catch can.

Well I think I am going to get the Elite Engineering one. Now to just decide where to put it. I will have a hole on the driver side after the Vararam install, but unless I am mistaken the "dirty side" is on the passenger side, right?

Hey im2smart4u,
We have had excellent results with the Elite brand, and their product quality is unquestionable. The Catch Cans do come with extra hose so you can opt to move it from its standard mounting location if you wish. Please let me know if you have any questions and feel free to call, PM or email us at anytime. Kind regards, -Adrian 888.308.6007 |

I've been running an Elite with my Vararam for a couple of years. Works great.

I put a Vararam and a Mike Norris on at almost 100K miles. Like 'em both. Like Dizzy said, never too late!

I want the Elite CC just as soon as I can get the money saved up. Which one is the best for a 2010 LLT? The 1st gen CC or the E2 CC?

I'm on the Apex waiting list...their supplier is making Army vehicles and stuff, and the Apex project is not top priority...
I do have an Apex can on the ZL1 and I'm pleased with the construction, look, mount, and everything. Great can for the price.
