LS Traction Control Advice?

Okay, so I didn't have the coin to spring for an SS, though they are amazing, I managed to get an LS base model. I have a traction control button just beyond where the shifter knob is and don't really know if I should be turning this off or leaving it on (it defaults to on every time I start the car).

Which is better for gas mileage? Which is better for peeling out and gunning the car hard. I'm a total NOOB and don't really know the benefits or drawbacks of traction control, even after reading the manual.

Any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated!

Leave it alone (on) for most daily driving. Turn it off when you want to spin the tires. That pretty much sums it up.

Traction control is going to minimize your wheels slipping on the pavement when you accelerate, so if you want to peel out and lay some rubber, you will want to turn it off. The benefits of T/C are it will help keep your back end from fish tailing if you get a little careless with the throttle.

Agreed. Only turn off traction control for willful hooliganism. Otherwise it is a safety feature that keeps the back end of the car in the right spot...........in back.

You will also find it extremely helpful if you drive in slippery conditions, wet or snow and ice.
