GM Performance Parts...why no love?
I was pondering this question early sunday evening while looking at their parts catalog.
They offer shorty headers, catback exhaust, hurst shifer, air intake and i'm assuming they are covered by warranty. Why aren't people talking about these parts? Do they suck or what? I mean what HP gain would be made if all were installed and a tune was bought? I like the fact that they are covered by warranty(I think) and it would lead me to buy them if the result was good enough. Anyone actually go with these parts?

I dunno.. personally, I think GM missed out *huge* by not having the parts available at launch. My car would have their CAI, Headers and Catback if they had.... or even if they were available when I got my car (post launch - got the car in June.)
Instead, they screwed the pooch and lost money... and market share... and mind share (at least for 5th generation Camaro owners wanting that extra oomph now, not some ambiguous time in the future.)

Yep, im kind of glad I didnt get them now. Read the newest article of Hot Rod and all three parts gave little to no hp increase. Aftermarket here I come.

I think they are to expensive. The cost is to high for little to no HP boost.

manufacturer parts don't give enough ooomph for the price, example, the frpp bullitt intake can get you 15hp with their tune (just like the bullitt) they send you the pro cal tool, it's 700 for the cai and the tool and looks stock.. i got a c&l racer intake for 250 and a tuner for 350 and they average 20-25hp, only thing maybe worth while from a manufacturer is structural parts, shock tower braces etc...

I had the GM axle back installed on delivery only because a Camaro can not survive in a world of quiet . Its all about the cool factor !

When the parts are available & when they get some awesome engine component upgrades GMPP will be everywhere. There's no better place to get mods than straight from the manufacturer of the car.

I'm not so sure your "when's" shouldn't be "if's" though... and I got tired of waiting. If GM ever does come to market with something that's worthy, I'll switch.

In the business world there are many risks involved. With our current economy and political situation it is important to focus on the big picture. I will tell you that not all people were convinced that the Camaro would be a hit. Take it from me the guys and gals at GM Performance Parts knew the Camaro potential . If you knew some of the proposals that were floated around you would be amazed. As disappointing as that might be I am grateful that the plug was not pulled during some of the cost cutting measures. The aftermarket is also proving to be cautious in investing in the tooling to produce Camaro specific components. As the sales continue to be strong more are making the investments in the Camaro market. This will also help GMPP justify their Camaro related products for the future. Many of the products that GMPP offers are developed with industry partners. They still must meet or exceed GM standards. GMPP strives to deliver quality parts that are a value. Thanks for thinking of GM Performance Parts. Robin
