New car clutch smell?

Hi everyone! I'm Wes from BC Canada, I recently purchased a 15 1le and am learning to drive manual. I've taken a couple lessons and finally took my car out late last night. I'm driving carefully, but I notice some burning smell when I start out in first gear. I did do a search and found explanations such as sensitive clutch with vented tranny, burning labels off of new parts under the hood and the hoses not being compatible with the coolant.

The camaro clutches aren't know for being the best. From what I've read on the forum the smell is normal, and since your still learning the odor will be more noticable.

Having the hill assist come on will make it worse as well, almost a year and 34k later mine still gets clutch stink on hills when the "assist" kicks in. Any GM people reading this thread please please please release a software update that lets us turn it off

Enjoy the new ride

Get rid of the hill start assist(search HSA delete)! It EATS clutches for dinner - has to be about the dumbest feature to be added to a manual transmission. Rant over on that one.
As for the smell, totally normal for a brand new car. Mine smelled for about 1500 miles.

When I bought my SS, the clutch smell lasted for about 1100 miles. After that, no smell at all.

GM already enabled drivers to disengage hill assist manually.

Just engage the parking brake by one single click.

Thanks for all the help guys! I'm not so worried about that new clutch smell now. I'm trying not to use the hsa just for practice.
