Looking for a ZL1 to replace my 1LE
My 1LE is toast so I am looking for a ZL1. I was considering a CA6 SS, but it seems to me to be a smarter buy to pick up a used ZL1 instead. Chevy is making a big deal the new SS performs like a ZL1. Well you can buy the real thing for less than a loaded SS that has already depreciated and will likely hold its value really well. The currrent ZL1 to me is overall the best performance car there is, and I am not a fanboy. Some will prefer the Hellcat because of more speed and a nicer interior, but those are just two dimensions of a performance car. As to the speed part, I raced a M6 Hellcat with DRs twice in the 1/4 and my 1LE was 2-0 against the Hellcat.
I have located two ZL1s at the ends of the used ZL1 price spectrum. I want a sunroof as that brightens up the pretty dreary Camaro interior. And I want an M6. Also I prefer the black spider wheels. But Sometimes you have to compromise. Few M6 ZL1s I see on the market have a sunroof. One of the ZL1s is a 2014 grey M6 with a sunroof and about 2,000 miles. This car is going for $48K. I do not mind the tail lights at all. The other one that interests me is a 2013 white M6 with around 25,000 miles. But it is going for $10K less at $38K. Is anyone familiar with the ZL1 listed below from the Lancaster PA area? It is modified and does not have cats, hence the very low price. I am not afraid of mods as long as they are well done. The listing is here: http://www.autoconnectionofpa.com/20...-17603/5622813 Here is a pic of the engine bay: ![]() ![]() Last edited by Fraxum; 09-23-2015 at 09:55 AM. |

Another question I have is related to the white ZL1. Is the NPP exhaust the same on the ZL1 and 1LE? I happen to have a NPP catback set up perfectly for LTs and hiflow cats which I also have. Along with lots of other stuff.

I actually just picked up an14ZL1 in Kentucky last week. It is black M6 sunroof, nav, recaros, microfiber package, exposed carbon fiber hood with black wheels. Car had 3k miles on it. I traded in my 13ZL1 with polished wheels M6, sunroof and it had 22k miles on it. They gave me 41k out of it. I looked at a black 14ZL1 in New Jersey that had 10k miles, but after driving 14 hours round trip, the car wasn't even close to as described.
The white car looks pretty clean, but I wanted the 14 for the color HUD and recaros. |

How are the Recaros, as comfortable as the stock seats? |

That white one seems like a steal to me. 25k miles is not much. I have a white one with nav, M6, no sunroof, microfiber package, paint protection film and a catch can with just 18k road-trip miles and I'd probably take $42k for it.

It was 48k. Love the recaro seats. More comfortable than stock I think. I drove it 5 hours home and felt comfortable all the way.

Recaro's are awesome, just drove from FL to TN and back, 10 hours each way, no issues other than sitting for that long. Super comfortable.

I thought the same thing thats why I bought my ZL1 a few months ago. There really trying to move ZL1s right now, got mine for 50k (before taxes) and they were asking 58k.
I was looking at used ZL1s and the cheapest 2013 I could find was 45k, so I figured why not pay a extra 5k for a brand new model with the colored HUD.

38k for a ZL1 is awesome.....it does have 25k miles though.
The NPP is the same set up and the 1LE's

I ran the white on through the GM warranty system and the only work completed was the key recall and a supercharger replacement at 14,472 miles.

25000 is nothing to worry about if the car was taken care of.

I have a 2012 I would sell. around 1800 miles. Upgraded stereo, Headers, cats, Pulleys, Intercooler, injectors, intake. Not even broke in yet. Bought brand new in 2012. M6 with sunroof, polished rims, stripe kit and ultra rare black over carbon insert (only available on first 1000 ZL1's. Dyno 620/600 drives perfect still smells new.

I am still torn between the white, cheap 2013 and a newer one. The grey 2014 is gone, but now I found a 2015 for about the same price, sunroof, black, M6 and 2K miles. No Recaros though. The dealer I bought my 1LE from has a new ZL1, black, M6, sunroof, with Recaros. But not budging off $60K so far. I can get the used 2015 for $10K+ less. As for me I do not care about the Recaros. I do not plan to seriously track this car so they are a a waste. For the occasional track day the standard seats are fine. The Recaros look cool, but make it a little harder to get in and out of the car. But I would not mind having them as they would make the ZL1 easier to sell later. My settlement is coming in soon. Time to go shopping for real! |
