1LE Hood Wrap Removal
So I know that the hood wrap is part of why it is a 1LE and it helps with distinction, but I was wondering if anyone had removed their wrap. Is it true that there is the original paint underneath it? Has anyone removed it and added stripes? I am just concerned with the wear of it over time. If you have had it removed could I see the end result? Also approximatly how much did it cost?
I apologize if this thread already exists. I am still new to the forums and had trouble finding a similar question. Thanks all! |

Your hood is painted the body color underneat the wrap. Many have removed there wrap for one reason or another. Some have left it as is (painted), some have re-wrapped, and others have painted the hood a matte or satin type of finish. It all depends on your taste I guess!

It's your cars signature. Why remove it for no reason?

Aaron, it's painted the color of your car under the wrap. I've got a couple of little nicks in mine. Right now it's ok, but when I get too ocd over it then I'll just get it re-wrapped, or maybe plasti-dip it.

I believe that folks have had it re-wrapped for about $200. Please correct me if I am wrong. We maintain ours with soap and water and occasionally put some detail spray in it for UV protection. It give it a bit of a sheen for a short while, but figure the UV is worth it. Over 2 years old at this point and i Think it looks good.

My 2 cents -
My car has a "carbon fiber" looking wrap on the blended hood scoop. I just bought the 2013 car in August. It has a couple of scratches and a small groove in it. I went to a local custom car shop. They said if it came from the factory, it would have factory paint under it. They checked it out and even though it was an aftermarket product, it still had factory paint. They also told me that if they replace it, I would not be able to use a drive through car wash at all. For me, living in South Florida, its not a good option. So I am looking to have it painted black. To replace it with another one, it was going to be around $350. If you do replace it, make sure you use a very reputable company, that has a lot of experience doing it. Good luck |

No cost to remove... just peels right off. But I think they look better with it on there. If you take care of it and clean it regular, it should hold up a while. Most say 5-7 years if maintained. But replacing it is less than $100 now if you do it yourself. Around $250-400 to have it done by a shop. |

That looks awesome, I don't suppose I could talk you into sharing a few more pictures of it...
