Both Coverking and Covercraft will give you various choices based upon your use and environmental conditions. In the sunny heat of Texas, for instance, I always use the Sunbrella cover (made for extreme sun).

If an outdoor cover is your only option like it is with me, I would go with the Covercraft Weathershield HD. Its the closest thing to having a garage when you dont have a garage. It is breathable yet lets hardly any moisture underneath and water rolls right off of it. The material isn't very soft though, so always make sure to wash your car before putting on a car cover (which you should be doing with any car cover). Its expensive but worth the price.

You want to be careful using a car cover outside, the wind will whip it and it will scratch your paint......not a good idea.

I bought an outdoor Covercraft car cover with tie downs (for wind issues) when I thought I may have to keep my car outside. As she has a happy garage spot now, I will see what model it is and if you pay shipping I will send it out to you. I think I paid $200-300 for it.

Correcting swirls once a year (which is a minor risk if he makes sure to wash the car prior to donning the cover) is a small price to pay if the cover protects his car from UV damage, bird droppings, industrial fallout, and water spot etchings.

I have a weather shield hp cover craft and as long as my car is clean (as in just left the wash not just "slightly clean") the car cover is amazing. I have had it on for over a month before took it off and car looked exactly like it had before, but if the car is dirty or dusty at all the cover WILL put small scratches on your car... As noted small scratches are way easier to fix than stained paint from bird droppings or sap.

For sure. I didn't actually purchase my Weathershield till' this year. I plan to use it regularly when I retire the car from daily use next year and get a beater car. The number one paint defect my car has is water spot etchings from rain. Down here in Florida, we commonly get 5-10 minute showers or downpours that are followed by intense, direct sunlight. It's impractical to always run outside and dry the car off every time it rains, so the sun bakes these spots into the paint... if there happens to be any level of acidity in that rain, it leaves etchings.

Sometimes things like that matter way more than swirl marks.
