gloss vs. flat

So I am to receive new gloss black MRR228 wheels for my CGM. Yea Me! But my car has the standard flat black rally stripes and other accents.

Is the incorporation of gloss black onto a car that is accented with flat black pieces (stripes, camaro lettering, taillight bezels, front airdam) a bit of an accessorizing faux-pas?

To those that have judged a car show, or mess with the total aesthetics of putting together a complete package...your opinion? I have no pictures of my car as the wheels are in Cali. being worked up by Paul.

I am not sure it would bug me once I get them installed...would it bug you?

I run gloss black wheels (w/ yellow accents) with all matte black stripes and accents. I think they are far enough away from each other that I don't even notice it. Gloss wheels are easier to take care of too in my opinion. I have entered mine in many shows and done judging in a lot of shows. If it looks like thought was put into the whole scheme and not just random parts thrown together it works as far as I am concerned.

Latest picture of it as it sits now...

As I've mentioned in similar threads, my general rationale towards the two choices are as follows;

Gloss = classy/refined
Matte/Satin = rugged/tough

I personally went with gloss as I have a preference for a vehicle that appears to be more refined and less rough around the edges.

Thanks, Superfly. Even with your side stripes being on the same viewing plane as your wheels, I do see that the blend will work with the spacial relationship.

I am intrigued by the EmblemPros new Onyx series of emblems and may do a couple of swaps there to glossify the script, but I will continue my stripe evaluation.

Any others with opinions.

USA, I know exactly what you mean. I like tough...and flat was working for me, but with the std. finish on the MRR228's being gloss it has just thrown a minor wrinkle in my limited theme & vision.

actually jdrop, I rattle-canned my front ebay splitter in satin to just see how it held up. I will probably repaint or wrap depending on my final answer once I get the wheels on an get a complete picture.

Unless they get chipped, I am not wanting to break down and recoat the wheels.
