Anyone NOT like the intensified supercharger whine after CAI?

Serious question, hoping to get serious answers. Bought my 2015 ZL1 in January of this year, have over 12K miles on her and no mods yet. LOVE the car!

Have been contemplating a cold air intake and ported throttle body as my first mods. I absolutely love the exhaust note with the fuse pulled. I'm kind of sensitive to high pitched noises. I've only heard positive comments about the enhanced supercharger whine after the CAI, but I'm afraid I may find it annoying in my daily commute. Sure I can pull it if I don't like it, but that's $400 down the drain.

Interested in comments from anyone who was concerned they wouldn't like it and do, or anyone who liked the sound better before adding it.

Thanks.

IMO, I don't think the whine is bad at all and nowhere near the likes of the hellcat as a comparison. Only in WOT is it very noticeable and even then doesn't overpower the sweet melody of the exhaust.

The Whine is really outside the car.. Yes you notice it more after CAI, but I don't know anyone that has complained.

I never thought I would see a question like this! You will hear the blower whine but it is not a high pitch sound and you will not hear it until you put the go pedal down and the rpm gets to the upper end. If you can find someone in your area who has the CAI on their car already take a ride and see. You will hear it then and can make up your mind. I have put one on each of the cars I have owned and I really like the sound it makes.

CAI definitely helps, but the blower was designed to be quiet for the CTS-V. We inherited the quiet.

On that note, what CAI do you all recommend?

Personal preference, some require a tune and some do not. Some have real cf and others hydrocoated. What were you looking for?

I just want to allow the better air flow and performance, I'd prefer to not have to do a tune until I add long tubes. And just to be nosy are you a 53 pilot? Navy, Air Force? Oh yea... It'd also be nice to hear the blower whine... Thanks.

Mine is a K & N, it doesn't require a tune and real CF. There is at least one more that doesn't require a tune but I can't remember. If you search the threads for CAI, you should find lots of them. I flew on the back of a 53. I was a radio operator.

Best fitting easiest to install and quality of there products is RotoFab. The instructions even have photos.

If you're happy with the fuse pull you'll have no problems with the CAI imo.

I did the fuse pull but found the volume a little too much on the highway and cruising. Might try it again though.

+1 for Roto-Fab. I don't think you will really hear the whine on a daily commute, it is subdued IMO. You will hear it WOT.

Roto-Fab requires no tune and as previously stated ..... unless you are late to work you will never hear increased whine
