Worried about wheels getting scratched.

I just put my ZL1 to bed for winter, but in spring I'm going to need new tires. With 7000 miles and two track days, I limped through late fall with very little tread, but didn't want to get new tires until spring. I have the 10 spoke black OEM wheels. Has anyone had issues with wheel damage/scratches when having new tires installed? It's happened to me before with my truck. Had new tires put on and they left a very nice deep scratch all the way around the outside of one wheel. I bitched and they told me they don't guarantee they won't damage the wheel. It wasn't even a fancy performance wheel or anything. I complained enough and they agreed to buy me a new wheel. This wasn't a dealer, but just a local tire shop. This of course makes me nervous about getting new tires put on my ZL1. Is everyone using the dealer? I haven't been back to my dealer since I bought the car so I don't really know how well they would do with regards to service. Thoughts? Am I worrying about nothing?

Find a shop that does mainly custom and oversized wheels. They'll know what to do and have the correct equipment.

Make sure they only use plastic tools, and they put the cream along the wheel. That helps the tire go on a lot smoother. Check out the tire machine before as well.
Local discount tire did mine after I had a long talk with the store manager. Then he and the assistant manager were the only one to touch my wheels

I went to a local tire shop that I do a lot of business with. I got them to come close to the Sams club price on the BFG Comp2's. I felt better having my shop handle the wheels. I spoke with the guys who who doing the work and explained to them how very important it was that nothing was scratched. It all turned out well, I had not problems.
