Got my Hurst Short Throw!!!

I was thinking about trying out the MGE this time around but Amazon is running a $50 rebate and I got a couple of gift cards so I decided that my total cash outlay of $80 for the Hurst was really hard to pass on...
Also ordered the upgraded bushing kit that replaces the Delren bushings and theoretically makes things much tighter and more precise. Which is hard to imagine..

I know there are a lot of people that have pretty solid opinions on the Hurst, mostly negative, but on my 2010, it was probably the best $200 I spent on it.
For some the motion is too mechanical but that's exactly what I loved about it and the 44% reduction in throw is unreal. It takes almost no motion to shift.
It's instant gratification and makes driving the car just feel that much cooler. I constantly got compliments on it when the service guys pulled it in for service. In fact, they would actually argue over who got to pull my car in. And I'd take bets on whether or not they'd kill it on the first try. I was right 90% of the time..

If you've never had the opportunity to drive a manual with the short throw, I highly recommend it, it's just such a cool feeling...

So, looking forward to installing it in the next couple of days. Once I get over the PTSD of my collapsing Jackstand story...

Hope everyone has a great holiday, be safe, and all the best for the coming year!!

Agree! I installed my hurst last weekend, and i love it! night/day vs driving with the sloppy stock shifter. I also cashed in on the rebate so i couldnt pass it up. i dont have the bushing upgrade but as of now i feel the delrin is good enough for me. install was cake, the lower boot didnt even give me that much of a fight. good luck with the install i hope you enjoy your new shifter!

Definitely an improvement over stock, but from what I've heard, if you like the hurst, you would have loved the MGW. Still, happy modding!

I love the Hurst. It is not hard to install. I have to remove the rubber boot to remove the spring clip on my v6, but not sure on the v8. No need to remove exhaust or drive shaft. It took less than two hours.

I have one of the first ones made in 2009. It doesn't say Hurst on the side of the ball. I've had no problems with the bushings since it was installed in December of 2009. I'm old school, so I like that it says Hurst on the stick. Its just like the Hurst in my 69 SS396.

That's it. I'm done going back and forth about which short throw to get. I'm gonna get the Hurst. Besides I already bought this shifter knob and boot a while back when I upgraded to the alcantera 1le steering wheel.

To the OP, noticed you have a 1LE. What difference do you notice between the factory short throw you got with the 1LE and the new Hurst. I also love the old school look of the Hurst, but am concerned about changing out the factory shifter. I've found it pretty damn good so far.
