What's in my catch can?

Car has about 43,000 on her, just put a catch can on about 100 miles ago and today figured I'd take a peak and this is what I find, what is it?

I also just read that it could be condensation from it being cold outside, and it is freezing here right now, so what do you guys think?

It's always important to drive long enough to heat the oil properly to burn that off. In other words, people that drive short distances continually that never properly heat the oil to burn all that off, will eventually have shortened engine life.

For the same reason oil is given a life in the engine even if it's not driven. You've seen the old 6 months or 3000 mile recommendation. The time recommendation was because of condensation accumulation. The water combined with the acids from the combustion process corrode the metal surfaces.

Even in a lawn mower, at least one of the recommended oil changes is before you put it away for the winter. So less of the acid(from combustion) and moisture attack the metal surfaces inside.

I do oil analysis four times a year on my truck and there is nothing out of the ordinary showing up.

That appears to be a faulty catch can, you'd better take it off and send it to me.
