Texas Speed Camshaft Package
https://www.texas-speed.com/p-260-ts...t-package.aspx
Thinking about camming out my Camaro and encountered this package when I began to shop around. Seems like a decently priced package. Would allow for AFM/DOD delete and it appears I can keep my stock stall. Does anyone have any experience with this cam package (I'd be interested in VVT-4 cam). HP gains, additional items needed, compatitibility? If I'm correct in understanding, this would essentially convert the L99 (which I have) to an LS3 with removing AFM. I'm a noob so correct me if I'm wrong. Anything would be helpful for me! Thanks! |

It takes out AFM like you want but leaves the vvt from L99.
Not sure that cam is for a stock torque converter

I believe you also need a phaser limiter with that cam as well. Call and talk to the Texas speed guys. They set you up right. I believe they are also now offering their cams on 8620 cores. I highly recommend going that route. It's a better steel.

Vvt-4 you cannot keep stock stall.
The problem with these cams is they won't tell you the specs. I bought the VVT-2 years ago when it was one of a few vvt cams to choose from and I have no idea what the specs are other than one forum i found it posted (which could be incorrect). |

I would recommend contacting Brian Tooley Racing, he can set you up with the correct cam and necessary components.

I personally went to Ryan at GPI performance... I am very happy with the power curve that the SS1 and VVT gave the car... If you are chasing Dyno numbers and peak HP then there are better cams. I looked at what the SS1 gave my car in the lower RPM range as compared to the SS2 or SS3. Both the SS2 and SS3 made more "peak" power, but gave it up on the low end. I am not chasing 1/4 mile times, the SS1 makes more usable power.
Looking at the LS3 / CAM dyno numbers that others are posting compared to my L99 with VVT numbers, I can't see why you would give up the VVT, unless you are building a very high RPM engine that will do nothing but run the 1/4 mile.

Did you do it?
Did you ever end up getting this package? I found it as well and am strongly considering it since they have the whole VVT Cam package with DOD/AFM delete for like $1200.
If you did go through with it, as well as keeping the VVT, did you have to go with any of the custom add-ons, like longer pushrods or any of the other optional equipment (obviously the DOD delete kit). This would be a major project for me, a caliber project I've never before gotten into, so I want to make sure I'm getting everything I need. |
