Magnaflow vs. Flowmaster

Ok guys which catback do yall think will be louder with american racing headers on a ls3...magnaflows 3 in. competion series or the 3 in. flowmaster 409S american thunder system? I know the competion series is a muffler delete but it also has a resonated x pipe while the flowmaster doesnt have a resonated x pipe it has mufflers. Just trying to decide on what to do.

my guess is the magnaflow's will be louder.

if you want it REALLY loud, don't use the cats (if you were planning on running them).

Your exhaust will be really loud when the Flowmasters Rust and fall off after a year or so.

I have had them both on various cars. The only one that I have now that still has Flowmasters is my '72 Malibu that never gets driven in the rain and not even too much in the nice weather. That is the only reason thay are not rusted away. Everything else has Stainless Steel Magnaflows installed. Regardless of the warranty, do you really want to go through replacing them every couple years?

From the sound clips I have heard so far, the Magnaflow sounds the best. The black painted Wheaties cereal box flowmaster mufflers sound kinda' hallow...

These don't sound "hallow" to me. They have a very deep, vibrate your chest, sound to it...Very nice...but...if you want volume...I suspect Magnaflow will give you more volume. To me, the quality of the Magnaflow sound is not quite there. Kinda like a stereo system. You can blast it but if the sound quality is not there, it sounds bad. Flowmasters have more of a refined, cleaner sound with volume but prolly not as loud as Magnaflows. To each his own. JMHO.
