Game on :-)

I finally hit the break-in #'s and had nice cool air, not great for the traction, but the engine loved it... I haven't really "romped" it yet but I did have a little fun. Should I change the fluids before I really run her?

I followed the maintenance guide, which doesn't call for an oil change until 7500 miles. Broke it in by the book until 1500 miles and then got on it. 27000 miles now on my car and not a single hiccup. I know some folks on this forum are paranoid and change the oil at 1500 miles. To each his own, but in my mind if the manual doesn't call for the fluids to be changed then you don't need to. GM changed their recommendation for Corvettes, but I haven't heard about any issues with ZL1s. Let her loose!

With fluid changes do you all stick with the dealership fluids - Mobile 1 - or do you go with an Amsoil/Royal Purple etc?

I have used nothing but Mobil 1 and GM fluids per the owner's manual recommendation. Although I do change all the fluids more often than recommended. Just for record I love having new blood in my machine and you can feel the difference! Smoother shifting, no chatter.

Stick with the Mobil1 extra life formula. The detergent package in it is way better.

I put Amsoil in my motor, much better additives than purple. Sam

OK, I'll bite.
Why does an 03 Tahoe get buzzed up to 6,000rpm that frequently?

I changed the oil (first time) at the 1500 mile break in point. You should not need any other fluid change at this point. Refer to your manual to make sure.

I still don't understand how you can drive these cars for 1500mi AND under 4K RPM. They beg to be driven. Mines parked for winter with 350 miles, bought it in November. It been over the 4K line a bit.

I changed everything at 1500, figured if there were any loose metal it would flush them and give it a fresh start. Kind of one of those can't hurt approaches. And at 54,000 miles I haven't had any engine or transmission issues at all. Had the normal rearend issues, but all resolved. The car seems to be getting stronger also.
