HELP! After Cam Idle Surge & P0068 Code

I installed vengeance racing kaotik cam. after the install I noticed the car would do a massive rpm drop down after giving it a little acceleration to back out of my drive way or navigate around a parking lot. that drop would constantly turn off the car and was a chore to try driving like that.

after a few days of running, I was able to find out with dynoSteve that my dumbass thought when you tune to delete the o2 sensors, i thought it meant the top ones on the headers as well lol

so obviously I installed them and drastically helped my rpm dropping issue. It still does it and shuts off, but maybe once or twice on cold start. other times it averages around 500, but occasionally around 200.

So point is its still doing it and was trying to find out the issue with it. In addition a few days later, during a hard pull, the car is now giving me an occasional p0068 code. I have to clear it and not drive hard when that decides to happen.

In addition, it seems like the car is running really rich and sometimes the car feels bogged down/clogged and then after it backfires to clear up it runs fine again.

Steve believes I need to replace my spark plugs or at least clean them from when I was running without the o2 sensors it flooded them and are now messed up/dirty. I havnt had the chance to pull all of them out yet, but I did take cylinder one out and it seemed fine. So idk what to think and was hoping some of you on here can give a 2nd or 15th opinion.

I'm gonna clean them to be on the safe side, but I really don't think it would work to solve my issues. please people give me some more ideas on what it might be, or if you have heard of someone having a similar issue.

thanks.

Mike

I'd give Ted a call at Jannettys, I'm sure he could help. You definitely need a new tune or adjustment to your tune you have now....

Well dyno Steve has a good reputation, I'd be checking for some sort of vacuum leak. But after that I'd be calling Steve with some data logging. Just a thought, did you upgrade the fuel injectors?

I've contacted Ted to try and see what he thinks. As well plan on checking for vacuum leaks and spark plug condition whenever it decides to stop fkn raining all week long. Anyone else have any opinions on what might be going on?

That's a pretty big cam, no way a remote tune is going to get it running right. Find a local reputable tuner to tune on a dyno. Reinstall the factory tune first so they don't charge you out the whazoo to dial it in.

Possible causes
- Air leak between the MAF sensor and throttle body
- Dirty Throttle body or Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor
- Throttle Position (TP) sensor not seated properly
- Faulty Throttle Position (TP) sensor
- Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor
But in all reality it sounds like the tune, when I installed my agp kit I recieved a tune with it, and my rpms where at 1000 when idling and when I was driving it would go all the way up too 3750 rpms, the issue was corrected when i went in and adjusted some of the tables in hp tuner, and it was also causing me multiple engine codes. But I wish you luck with your problem and hopefully you solve it soon
(idle Airflow Minimum is where I had my issues)

I would also suggest contacting (calling) Dynosteve, indeed he has a good reputation on this forum and should be able to help you out with this trouble.

Good luck!

False, I have remote tuned that cam many times with perfect results.

Ted.

I had a similar situation after installing my cam which was specked and provided by Dyno Steve. It turns out the wrong reluctor gear was provided with the cam so the engine was seeing the wrong timing. Due to other problems with this purchase I went to Ted to provide the tune. This is when I found the wrong gear. Purchased the right gear, installed it and with Teds tune the car runs great. Use him. You wont be sorry.
