Rear differential fluid pump

Just needing a general consensus on who has had the best luck with pumps to refill your rear differential fluid with??? Or what innovative things have some of you come up with? Need ideas I heard some of the hand pumps at local part stores are POS!

I plan on changing my rear differential fluid this weekend, I got 26K and it hasn't been done yet.

I used a pump from O'Reilly's and had no issues. Matter of fact, I have 2 of them. One for the transmission as well.

That would depend on the type of container. It's a tight space, you better be fast not to spill anything. The pump will make it easier to get all of the fluid out of the container.

Squeeze fluid into a tight spot is hard, and a leaking mess. For only $10, the hand pump is the best.

Got one from Amazon some time ago and still using it.. looks the same as sold in Wally World now.. No issues.. I guess it all depends on how it is handled. It is not real durable but not junk I would say cause it has worked several times for me without a hitch so far.. Well worth it rather than trying to figure an alternate method or spilling all over..

I just hold it up to the fill opening and fill as much as I can out of the container of diff fluid. Then I transfer the remaining amount from the container into a much smaller container (ie the small container with the GM LSD fluid) and easily squeeze it into the diff. It takes a few times of filling the small container to get the job done, but it is easy...

Thanks for the insight guys!

I bought a cheapy pump from Napa, it screws onto the bottle and you use your finger to pump away. It was $5.49 and thought what the hell why not try it out. I almost bought RP MaxGear 75w90 differential fluid until I realized I would have needed two bottles to actually top off the differential. So, instead I went with AC Delco 75w90 and 4oz bottle of additive to make the exact amount!

If you use the factory fluid ... after draining your SS will also need the small bottle of Limited Slip fluid ADDED FIRST before filling with the differential oil. Part numbers for both fluids are in your owners manual. I put a small clear section of flexible plastic hose on the bottle spouts to make it easier to fill.

The filler plug and drain plug are both magnetic so don't forget to wipe off the metal particle/oil emulsion before reinstalling them. When new, at 1,500 miles, there was already a thin layer of metal particles on both plugs of my car.

+1 for the simple pump off Amazon. Bought a new one to replace my old when I purchased the RP gear oil. Works great, easy to use. Due to the angle over the exhaust pipe, it would be a PITA to do without the pump.
