Kooks headers question?
From what I have been told you can use the existing exhaust with kooks long tube headers and it should give you the same hp increase as any other exhaust/setup....Is this correct?

It depends (you saw this coming right?).
If all you do is change the OEM headers for some longtubes, you'll see a slight increase in HP, if you add a custom tune you'll see even more. Add to the before mentioned a custom and less restrictive exhaust from the headers on back and another custom tune and you'll get even more from your car. Then add a good CAI to it all and you'll have one fine breather going on there.

Yes, will go with a custom tune and have already installed the Hennessy CAI. Just making sure the standard/existing exhaust will give me what I need. I am told it is wide open...

The stock exhaust will be fine although you will benefit more from a free flowing 3" exhaust. I have the kooks headers with MBRP 3" and it sounds great and def. makes more power. I have a slp loudmouth 1 that i'm going to sell if your interested.

There are minimal gains to be achieve through cat back exhaust modifications especially with out proper PCM calibration. We offer Kooks long tubes at our web page an have some sound clips associated with the product listings, to help get a judgment of what to anticipate.
I typically recommend to clients that want the results (Horsepower) with out the drone some aftermarket cat backs have, is to stick with your stock exhaust in the short run, and realize the performance gains, then if you want more noise, add in a quality exhaust system. Regards |

I saw Kooks and just wanted to add .... we've had several customers that used Kooks (we dont sell them) But they were complaining they were too loud and were buying resonators to quiet them down a little......
Personally ... i'm putting in Borla long tube headers. |
