4th gear vs 5th gear on dyno

The shop that tuned my car had to do the pull in 5th because 4th had too much torque for the dyno I was told. What kind of difference does that make in numbers?

I think it's always done on 4th gear pulls.
Think 5th gear pulls will lead to lower numbers. Hope someone can confirm this

You need to do your dyno pulls in what ever gear is a 1-1 Ratio in most Standard transmissin cars it's 4 and most autos it's 3rd

Take the results and multiply by .852 for a ballpark.

My tuner always tries to use the gear closest to 1:1 for dyno pulls. So 4th gear for mine.

That's interesting to know. My car was dyno'd in 5th gear. Makes me feel better about my number after recalculating based on the gear ratios.

Rear end gear doesn't effect transmission ratios.

No, I know. I was being sarcastic. My apologies....

Although thinking about it, what all mods do you have done to the car?
