Amazon for GM parts?

Since I got my car, I was kind of bummed that the tonneau cover was not with it. There are no aftermarket options so Genuine GM was the only possibility. Everywhere I looked, $300 to $400 for this part which as we all know is way I over priced. I even posted in the Classifieds for a used one with no luck.

Found one on Amazon, (sold by and shipped from Amazon) with a case for $89 and free two day shipping! Got it today, and it's the real thing. I was sure I would just get an empty bag or something because just the bag sells for $86.

So anyway, it pays to check Amazon sometimes when looking for GM parts.

Unfortunately, they only had one of these. My guess is it's an earlier version that has been superceded by a new part number. It does have the extra tie downs though so I am happy with that.

JMHO.

Yes, I actually found my part by just Googling the actual GM part number, and it popped up.

Yup, I buy a lot from Amazon. 80% of the time they are cheaper than most places. Sometimes not so much, but most of the time, yes.

I bought my SS Master cylinder on there. Was $2 higher, but free PRIME shipping...thank you jesus for Prime!

At work I can often order parts through the garage. We have a lot of chevys in the fleet so I can often get parts at the price the dealers pay through our suppliers and they'll deliver them next day to work. But I always compare amazon and rock auto because sometimes they are a few bucks cheaper.

The one you got may be the original style that had clips. If so, with luck you'll be able to catch it in your rearview as it flies off. If yours is that style, you should be able to find some DIY threads in the convertible section on adding bungees to help keep it on. I believe GM went to the bungee style in 2012.

This was not the final revision, but has two small bungee chords on the front edge near the corners.

I will have to check if the attachments on the car are clips or bolts. If they are clips, I believe I will have to replace those with the bolts. At least that's what I THINK after reading about 50 different posts on the subject.

BTW: If you register with Amazon as a business, any business, you get free two day shipping on orders over $50 without paying Prime.
