water issues !

Hey all!

I'm having issues with the loss of cool water for my 5.7 Z28 Coupe. Levels dropped last week but the water was clear looking. Then on Thursday I saw the water was a bit rusty, so I looked into the water tank and saw the same rusty a** water inside.

So I filled up on Thursday and went to work on friday. Again I see a dripping trail ... drive home 5 pm, and see the water indicator flashed on the dashboard. Again I refill with water this time I see the water temperature indicator rising and rising. I stopped at a gas station and checked the tank. It was quite full, but the engine was so damn hot that when I pulled out the dipstick I burned my finger on the plastic.

Is the flow of water blocked / the flow no longer functions. Is the water pump defective?

I took the bus to work today as I don't want to hurt the engine! Getting a bit worried this could be a costly repair, so if anyone has any ideas what it could be and if I can fix it myself that would be much appreciated !

Probably got a air pocket trapped in the cooling system . I would take the car to a garage and have the cooling system bled and pressure tested . You need to find that leak.
