One More Exhaust Question- catbacks

ok- so I am like 2-3 weeks out from getting my car and I can't wait-- I finally talked my husband into letting me get catbacks instead of just mufflers and an x-pipe! YEAH go me!!!!!

But here is my delima- I LOVE the borla s type cat backs- sound, looks, and all. My hubby on the other hand does not like the brand. So I m stuck. I need your help---

I want the true american muscle car sound--- nice low rumble that will really growl when I punch my 2SS!!! and will just sound mean!!!! But --- here's the kicker----- I don't want drone and don't want popping-- and I hate hate hate raspy sounding exhausts.

so far I like Borla s type catbacks and then magnaflow 2.5" competition series and one type of flowmaster.

Getting extra horsepower and torque would be awesome-- and if I do cat backs--- do you still have to have an Xpipe or is that included in the system? Do you think that you could get an axle back system with an x pipe and it sound like I want?

Sorry for all the questions! and Thanks for the help!!!!!

I think the cat back would be the way to go since you are wanting perfomance increase. The axle back is just gonna be for looks, and I don't know for sure on all brands, but probably won't sound the same as the cat. But you will probably still run into drone though. Supposedly Corsa makes a cat back that eliminates drone but I've only heard it on recording. I'm with you, I think the Borla sounds awesome!

We offer a cat-back exhaust kit that combines a true X-pipe with our specially engineered Mach-X muffler. It creates a no-drone sound, not even in 6th gear. We are running a group bu on it right now, and there are pictures and videos here---> http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42318

The other two members that posted about the Magnaflow are right one.

The Magnaflow catback is just fantastic, no drone what so ever, and just raw deep tone that the Camaros personality desires.

We commonly are selling the competition series, 2.5" and 3" depending on the application.

You can check out all the sound clips, videos of each Magnaflow cat back on our web site here http://www.ipsmotorsports.net/index....3531_3694_3792

We ship them all for free as well .

But again I would stick with magnaflows systems, for quality fit and finish, no drone, and some more torque and horsepower as well!

Congratulations on the new purchase and enjoy!

Regards

Be sure to check out Flowmaster's AMT (American Thunder) offering. They designed their catback system with what you describe in mind...deep, deep, old fashioned American muscle. No rasp. I have the Super 44 series Flowmaster on mine (which is essentially the same muffler they used on the AMT system I think) and it sounds incredible to me. Vibrate in your chest deep, but not ridiculous loud. Sounds very nice in the cabin. Haven't listened to the radio in a long while now so I could soak up the earcandy of the exhaust. So far, the only way I've seen to get rid of the popping on decel is to have a professional tune it out. From what I understand, the popping on decel is not exhaust related. I saw on here about the computer cutting back the output of the injectors during deceleration to save gas which in turn causes the popping on the LS3s. Don't know how true that is though. Mine popped on decel from the factory and is louder since I upgraded my exhaust but I don't mind. Good luck.

Borla makes a good catback..I am strongly considering it for my SS. If your gonna mod though, 3" Magnaflow would be the way to go. If you have questions, contact us at the number in the sig and we can work out a deal.

new systems

Try the Flowmaster system - I think you'd be impressed. Plus we have a new Hushpower muffler equipped version on the way - good sound, low heat, improved power, installs in the driveway with no hassle.

This is a NO BRAINER!!

Get the SOLO Performance MACH X Exhaust. I have it and I love it. I Have had Magnaflow in the past and was not happy with the drone on the highway.
I cannot say enough about this system, except you would be making a mistake to not get it at that price ESPECIALLY. FULL CAT BACK with X Resonator. ZERO DRONE!!! No popping, but a nice little burble on deceleration. PERFECT SOUND!! Mandrel Bent Stainless, and Hand Built.

AND FOR $599.20 on the group buy until October 1st, you cannot go wrong (See their post above!!)
