What upgrades are you guys doing and in what order?

I've had my SS 6 speed since June 17th and I'm starting to get the urge to do some upgrades. Obviously cost of upgrades is the biggest drawback so I'm looking to do stuff economically as possible.

Here are the upgrades I'm considering, any suggestions on what I should do first, second, etc?

-Engine tune- Has anyone done this yet? Has anyone tried a preprogrammed tune?

-Remove stock exhaust and replace w/ straight pipes. I'm concerned that I am going to get a lot of back firing and noise when I slow down in gear. Any one have any experience or suggestions for this?

-CAI, was looking at the Hennessey but I really have no idea which system is best or really what the difference between them is.

-Hockey stripes, opinions from you guys. I have the black SS and I had fully intended on putting the hockey stripes on the car but my wife and others said the car looks great without them. I was thinking of putting white or silver stripes on the car.

-Hurst short throw shifter- anyone have any comments on this option?

-Any other upgrade suggestions for anyone?

Thanks for your help and opinions, I value you guys/girls input!

Russ

I think the black looks best in a single streamlined look; I vote no stripes! (But if you must, go w/ red.)

The only things I'm planning are blacking out the bow ties (if I can bear to part w/ her for a day) and getting a spare tire & jack!

Do what you want and can afford.

For me the first thing will be aftermarket stripes...like the next day. Then tint the day after. Next will be exhaust probalby within the first week or two. After that will be an aftermarket shifter (MGW?), CAI, and lowering springs. Not sure when all that will happen but probably within 6 mths or less.

I've ordered my vinyl (maybe receiving on Saturday?), but it may go on piece by piece, probably in this order:

1. Gill accents
2. Hockey stick stripes,
3. Decklid blackout (stupid having to order a new rear emblem before the install is finished...)

I'm not sure I'll change anything else, although I may upgrade the exhaust at some point.

Edit: Oh, and maybe one of the Pfadt Balance Bars.

way off from getting my iom camaro but these are my plans in order:
1 - tint
2 -rims and a drop
3- smoked tail lights and side markers and yellow fogs... also rewiring so fogs and headlights can run at the same time
4 - straight pipes (for now)
5 - grill (most likely revolution SS)
6 - painting the roof, in front of the grill (like the LS7 concept) and rear in between tail lights all black... also removing rear bowtie and putting SS or camaro or something
7 - aftermarket rear spoiler in black
8 - aftermarket ground effects
9 - hood (revolution SS)
10 - SLP loudmouth, headers, xpipe

As you can see I am dying to get my car... I even have a keychain and license plate frame already and I am getting my car in July lol

For stripes, I like just plain ol' racing stripes. On a black car, I'd want 'em white for contrast, if I chose to get them. I sorta thing on the 5th gen that that take the attention away from the rest of the car, though, and the damn thing is gorgeous.

Hurst shifter came yesterday..Hotchkis in box, waiting on springs (Eibach) and shocks.

Lingenfelter in April then decide on exhaust (headers) and getting audio clips from FI members exhaust tones to decide on remainder of system.

After that, a complete sound system overhaul.

Then the fuzzy dice, disco ball and pine tree air freshener.

I want my car to look as stock as possible...No LS3 badging, no bells and whistles, no loud flashy stuff that screams look at my car (or me).

Kinda like a Chevette with a blower and nitrous. Unassuming but lethal.

emblem is just taped on. Apply fresh double sided tape and reapply. Worked for mine

I've already done:
Silver Bow Tie
SS emblems for fender
Silver fillers for emblems
Window Tint
Lloyds Floor Mats
and a Gas Cap Caddy which is awesome
Pro Clip for my IPhone

The next thing I have planned:
Ram Air Hood from Suncoast
Custom Paint either stripes or two tone
CAI
Corsa Cat Back
Hurst Shifter
Stealth Sub Box and Sub with amp
Some Interior Trim
Hotchkis Sway Bars
Oh yeah and I saw a set of CCW wheels on here that I absolutely love, I think they are like the SPA16 or something

Plan On doing these in mostly that order! And I'm thinking 6 months or so to complete (have to spend some time convincing the Mrs how necessary these parts are).

I race A LOT, and I don't see any reason to change the stock shifter, it's got a short enough throw & it feels nice. No reason to change unless it's just to say you have a Hurst shifter.
