Dyno tune vs agp base tune

Not sure if anyone will have the answer but I'll ask it anyways, I am currently running agp tt kit my kit includes the following- 850cc injectors, MSD Voltage Booster, Turbos are 54/57 JournalBearing --- .63 a/r 800whp (FAST spooling), my question is how much power am I leaving if any on the table running the agp base tune vs a dyno tune?

Guys that I know who are running the AGP kit that used the base tune at first then went and got a dyno tune said the base tune was pretty much spot on. They gained a few ponies but nothing major

Hard to say. Base tune definately isn't setup for 5k+ elevation, and is way safe. Could be 10hp or 150hp. Being in CO, I would get it tuned asap. And don't worry about a dyno tune, just get a local tune. IMO street tune is far superior to a dyno tune. That concepts is so blown out of proportion.

What do you think of email tune's like I see advertised form a couple sponsors on the board, I ask since the closest shop is around 3 1/2 hours away and haven't really heard great things about the shops and thank you all for your advice.

Depends on the tuner. Matt@FSP, great tunes through email. Others, not so much.

As long as they are going to look at logs and then adjust, that is no different than a dyno tune.

some people on here do some good work with the order Tunes. I'd definitely do some research and try it out. They'll work with you too to dial it in correctly if they are reputable.

You won't have issues with a mail ordered tune if you can log afr and other data they need to see to make adjustments.

Well, as long as they know what they are doing

+1 for Matt from FSP, he can get it dead on VIA email. He did mine.

If you have an AFR gauge, best way to see what kind of power your leaving on the table is to tell us your AFR. That is one of the best way I know if to judge how a car is performing.

The issue with you having the standard HPT version is, you cannot log AFR from your AFR gauge.......It can be done using the AC input, but that is for version 2.24 not 2.25. Not to mention, even if you were to use version 2.24 and used your AC input to log your AFR. Matt wouldn't be able to see your data. You would have to take screenshots of your logs, and email them to him. Without wideband AFR, you would have to use fuel trims. Best thing is to contact Matt, and ask him what he prefers to do. I can show you how to use your AC input to log your AFR. In the past Matt has used screenshots, of data and tuned accordingly, using the AC input, but it was a PITA, and I don't know if he would be willing to do that again. Hontestly, I would send yours into HPT and pay for the upgrade. That way you can data log wideband AFR.

Good lesson here from 1KillerSS. If you're going to get the HP Tuners suite...get the Pro so you can hook up a wideband. The extra $$'s are insignificant.

Ok thank you I have been pondering on upgrading my hp tuner for two reasons, one so I could data log and the second being so I could learn some about tuning

Dont get me wrong, you can log your AFR using HPT standard, VCM 2.24.

But like I said, nobody will be able to view your AFR data, but you. It will show as an unsupported parameter, when being viewed on a computer that wasn't used to actually do the datalogging. Plus with HPT switching to VCM 2.25 or now its called V3, who knows if you can even log your AC input with the new stuff. Spend the money and send it into HPT for the Pro upgrade. Well worth the money.
