Any one know the turn around time for a new bumper for the new SS?!?

Yep it happened. 450 miles and just 2 weeks old....I had a little accident. Pulling out of a i somehow missed a pipe sticking out of the ground and luckily just rolling from my spot hit it at 3-5 mph tops. I assumed to get out of the car and see a scratch. Hell no the front pass. side corner of the bumper is complety crushed in...sick! Like it was made of paper. I swear 3 mph tops! I think I just touched it the right way with my wheels turned.

So my question is any ideas how long the turn around time will be to get the bumper in and does it come painted or will they have to paint it as well?

the bumpers front and rear are fairly quick to get,its all the little stuff underneath you can have a problem getting,i.e.clips and brackets and such,if its just the front fascia piece id say no more than a week, only took me 1 week to get my rear bumper cover and that was in june

Yeah it all depends on the part. It seems that the exterior parts are much more readily available than the interior parts. My body work was in, painted, and assembled within about 2 weeks. The head liner took about 8-9 weeks. After 11 weeks, I'm still waiting for the door locking mechanism (the manual-open key tumbler) and the lock for the head rest adjuster.

Just went to the dealer...they said they could pop out the bumper and repaint. I insisted a new bumper. They said no problem and ordered it today. I tried to pop it out so it doesnt look bad the next few weeks and I can't. Any ideas??

Honestly, I'd go with the repair. Insisting on new isn't always the best route, particularly since there's no filler. Usually to pop those out you need to apply a heat gun for a little bit- but not always. Also- depending on the size of the dent they may be able to blend within the bumper so the overall paint match to the body may be better.

Using existing parts is almost always better unless too much filler is required. Even more so on welded panels. But you know the fit is right, there won't be any batch errors, the edges have already been trimmed and prepped. Bumper repairs are really easy.

I hit a cat(see my thread) and my bumber was ordered on Tuesday and got here today. My car goes in Monday to get the bumper painted, lights tinted, wheels powder coated and some other stuff painted. The only problem I am having is the part of the hockey stripes on the bumber arent available. You have to order the whole hockey stripe and thats not available to order yet. Front bumpers are only $357.00!

If you can wait, then get the new bumper. However if you can't, then get it repaired.. Simple as that.

I scraped up my front bumper a little bit. When I went to get a quote the parts shop guess-timated 2 weeks to get a SS bumper.

Yea I decided to do the right thing and get a new bumper. They said it should be here by Tuesday or wed. Not bad! We'll see. I know the estimate was cheap but the bumper only being 350 makes sense now. Guess we shouldnt be too afraid of dinging them up...lol
