Ok, so I'm a long time car collector and am getting into road racing this year. Since I can't buy a 350R at MSRP the Z seems like the bang for the buck champion.
First issue, tires...on all 3 cars I've looked at the front tires are hard and cracking on the front leading edges, solely on the front tires. Back tired are fine. I assume it's UV degradation from setting for so long? Will they cover under warranty or am I out of luck? I'm 6'4" at 230lbs and it seems almost impossible to set in the stock seat and wear a helmet? That is without practically laying the seat all the way back. I didn't have a helmet so I'm looking for feedback. Am I going to have to replace the seat to get lower? Brakes. Do the CCB's last on the tract or is there a thread about switching rotors/pads out to conventional brakes? Price....I'm looking for a new one so I can have full warranty. Will GM bring the 20% back? There's like 169 new cars out there and it appears that only 3 have come off cars.com in last 60 days. Dealerships don't seem to be coming off $57-59k....I wanna be in the $51-53 range, maybe a slight bit more for a gray one. Anyone w insight? Thanks for the help! Greg |

I can give you my opinion on a few items.
Tires - you would need to negotiate that when you buy the car. If the car is 'new' I would expect that to be addressed. Shouldn't matter if it's front or rear, that's probably coincidence. Height/Helmet - no idea. I'm 6'5" and I haven't tried any helmet in the car yet but its gotta be close. Brakes - these are said to outlast normal rotors, many to one. I would think the pads will wear like any others depending on how the car is tracked. Price - the 20% is gone. Even at 20% prices were not that low. Lowest I saw was barely under $55k in November. I'm sure in GM's eyes the 2015 model year is long gone. It would be unheard of to have incentives this far into the next model year for last years cars. Possible... Maybe. Car is a great buy at under $60k. |

Thanks! Maybe it's just better to buy used and put the extended warranty? Sub 500 mile just sold for mid 40's. It's just so much car and such a shame on the downward pricing pressure....
So, GM never throws a bone to help clear out previous year models this late in the game? |

On price, I'm not sure if anyone knows about the 20% and my dumb guess it won't be anytime soon. Reason, even when they had it not that many dealerships were advertising the Z/28 with it so GM gave them two chances to clean them out at their cost (2014 & 2015). If cars were being sold in the mid 50's in Nov2015 with the 20% rebate not sure who is selling them new at 57 to 59K. And 51 to 53K is what was recently wholesale prices for a used model so at that price it would be a killer deal IMHO. Good luck,

We purchased ours with the 20% plus a very large discount from the dealership but they had it advertised at 73K but I called and asked and made a deal over the telephone. Other dealers I called this past November would use the 20% but not a whole lot of discounting on their end so they still have them. Not GM's fault but the dealership but again just my opinion. That mid 40's for a sub 500 mile used Z is a whale of a good price. Wow!

Both dealers have said they will likely sale to their used car division and then take the loss at that time as a "used" car. Apparently they won't take a significant loss as a new car?
I also assume the valves are fully fixed and there are no head issues as on the early Z06 cars? |

GM claims the heads are "not an issue." I know I did (and others) preemptively address this when modifying our cars. I'd not lose any sleep over it, the car has a warranty.
On the discount, pretty much NO chance you'll see 20% GM is well comitted to Gen 6 Camaros and all the Z/28 inventory is sole property of the dealership network with GM having been paid for these cars already. Just start calling and making offers, someone will bite. Good luck out there. |

You will never get a helmet on without hitting roof. I'm 6' and at proper seating position my head hits roof w helmet. I have to hunch down in the seat.

Setting in a GT350 is just such a giant leap above the Z in terms of ergonomics and interior fit/finish. |

Having just acquired a Z/28 in the price range mentioned, a '15 certified used...with 318 miles on it; its a case of calling. I had a New York dealership new down to ~$54895 with 18 miles; and got an offer for the same red hot car with A/C and Radio options for much less; but it took me two days of calling all day long and playing one dealer off of the next. The first price they threw at me was $60K; and after I told them they were way off, and where they could find the vehicle - they tried to make the deal, but the other dealer a small town dealership had beat them to the punch and I gave them my business. They also gave me a 84 month GMAC bumper to bumper warranty @ 70000 miles for $1465.
Good luck with the purchase, you'll absolutely love the car. heres the link to autotrader:28 miles, bought by the dealership-so used but not really... $54895 in red hot with A/C and Radio just like mine...at Gault Auto Group in Endicott NY. http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...20657047&Log=0

Ewrball4.....the car I was referring to was a 15 sold from a dealer for 46k w AC and less than 500 miles technically as a used model.
This is also a deal and if it had AC I'd be ALL over it: https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/131745482921 Bull, great to know another local guy. I'm here in Bixby and if I get one I'll prob have a friend also buy one so we can both play at Hallett. Great to know the extended warranty price as that's a must for a tracked car (IMO). |

So I just bought my Z/28 two weeks ago and the deals are out there but you have to drive. I have been watching the market for about 3 mths now and they are coming down but a lot of the new ones are holding strong in the mid to high 50s. I just picked up a used one for 49K and it had 2500 miles on and it was certified pre owned, so i have 3years of bumper to bumper coverage now which is actually better then stock. The previous owner also just used it to cruise so it was in MINT shape. I just broke the car in this weekend on the track...lol.
But you can find some pretty low mileage ones for 49k now which is pretty good. The ebay link you just posted has been for sale for a while now but the wrap job on that car is awful. Look at all the red bleed thru around the edges. But the wrap comes off so no real sweat there. Previously he/she was asking 49ish for a while now and looks like he finally came down. Lastly, check auto trader and Cargurus.com |
