ported throttle body yes or no?

i have studied up on this and just get more confused, some say it's great!! 10-15 horses. some say it kills the mid range and others have had tuning problems with them, so enlighten me, get 1 and what brand or stay stock. thanks

Get it! Won't add much hp but throttle response is much better. You'll definitely notice a difference when you drive it. Get a Bo White or Vmax

Maybe 3 hp...maybe. I have the vmax it's popular here. I really didn't notice a huge improvement in th th throttle response. There was a difference for sure. Bo white has good reviews so does vmax. My vmax has been trouble free since the install.

I've heard up to 5 rwhp max, but like rontammy0 said 3 is probably more realistic, at most. It isn't a power gain that you're after with a ported throttle body, it's the throttle response. If you have a L99 a ported throttle body is a must have. I had Bo White do mine and I've been very pleased with it. As for tune trouble, that sounds quite ridiculous but I'll let you know in a month when my tune gets applied.

if I say it gives you 50+ hp, now you can say you heard it gives at least 50 more hp?

Not going to get any more HP out of it. What you will see is a better throttle response when moving from a dead stop, or accelerating hard.

I think you're getting ported throttle bodies and 102mm throttle bodies mixed up.

Ported, absolutely yes. Like said above, 3-5hp. (There's a thread in here somewhere where I believe Bo White did dyno pulls and shared the results.)
Either Vmax or a Bo White TB.

102mm TBs, as in Nick Williams TBs, have problems tuning. Some people get these when they add a 102mm FAST intake manifold. (That is where your loss of midrange power will come from.)

I installed the VMAX about three weeks ago. As described above, throttle response from dead stop and when accelerating is more pronounced. I did throw a P1400 code after about 1 week, but then I disconnected the throttle body harness and replugged in and the code cleared. We will see if it comes back. I also installed a CAI (Volant) at the same time. The install is very easy.

No matter of HP, throttle response. I have a Bo White. When I put it on, I didn't seem to notice a huge delta. But a few months later I swapped it back and put the factory TB back on. (I had a bad plug wire and was trouble shooting.) When I took it for a ride with the stock TB back on after months on the Bo TB...HOLY SMOKES could I tell the difference! It was huge. Made me a firm believer in the ported TB. Do it!

Yes, Bo White is what I went with and the difference with the throttle response is well worth it.
