What type of anti theft device do you have?

Other than onstar, what type of anti theft device would you use?

I keep mine in the garage while at home. I don't have any aftermarket anti theft devices other than my .45

Factory alarm, garage when home, and like TX_Ed I have a S&W .40 when I'm driving.

Factory alarm can be silenced/defeated in a few seconds outside the car by a thief. GM did a terrible job with wire and onstar module locations and both defeats are well known. Here is the usual method without identifying locations.

Cut wire to alarm horn
Break door lock, or in some cases they can do this electronicaly, which also disables the alarm.
Disabe Onstar comms. Again very easy due to location
Install hacked ecu, not necessary if they have captured the RFID
Break ignition and its gone. Usually all this takes less than a couple of minutes.

Best bet is a random kill switch that interupts igniton, and fuel. Some swear by Ravelco.

I would suggest making your own kill switch.

A hungry pit bull from Michael Vick's old collection sitting in the passenger seat will suffice in a pinch too.

OT.....

Michael Vick's dogs were not all killers. I know, I volunteered at the ASPCA in GA when all of this s... happened and worked with one of his dogs.

Worthless POS.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I have a strange third pedal in my car that stops 99% of all people from being able to drive it.

I use the factory alarm, onstar and installed RAVELCO When I have to park it at the airport I also wrap a chain through the spokes of the steering wheel after lowering it and pushing it all the way in and twice around the brake peddle with a pad lock. Got 10% off ins with the Ravelco on top of the 10% with onstar and factory alarm

The manual is just as sought after. They just want the drivetrain parts. I guess it may stop some but not in the bayarea. It is just as wanted as the auto.

Not that I'm against guns. But owning or carrying a gun isn't going to stop a thief from stealing your car. They steal them in the middle of the night while the owner is asleep or when it's parked somewhere with the owner nowhere in sight.

Not that I wouldn't mind putting a few bullet holes through the roof of my Camaro from my upstairs bedroom window if I'm waken up by the engine starting. But that's very unlikely to happen.

All these guns do nothing if you don't see the thieves. I have 3 guns and live in a great neighborhood. Mofos in a rim theft ring stole my ZL1 wheels right in front of my home.

If I caught them in the act I'd still be shooting.

So-called factory "theft deterrent" system, lug locks, and crossed fingers. I'm not sure which of those three is most effective.
