2015 LS2....can't install PDIM with USB? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I'm a newbie here, so forgive me if this topic has been beaten to death, BUT, bought a 2015 LS2 for the wife and fell for the salesmans "plays mp3" line, translation in my head, "has USB connectivity". My bad. But I can not seem to get a straight answer from anybody at Chevy or the dealership as to WHY I can't upgrade with the PDIM that had Bluetooth and USB connectivity that worked in the 2014 LS Camaro? Looks like the same radio and why would they make it so you couldn't add it for one year? Issue is, I have non-Bluetooth mp3 players and would like to use them and control them through the radio. Don't carry music on my phone and have heard mixed reviews using Bluetooth. Why would they take that functionality away and make it so you it's not even an option? . I would appreciate any reasonable response and explanation because I can't get one from Chevy.

From what I understand, the wiring was changed in 2014 to the base (non-Mylink) radio, making the current PDIM non compatible in your 2015 LS.

I thought 2012 was the last year for PDIMs. I have a buddy who bought a 2013 1LS for his daughter and wanted to add a PDIM. He ended up giving up because he was told multiple times that PDIMs are for 2010-12 only. I have another buddy who did successfully install one on a 2012 1SS, so I know for a fact that 2012s still had them.
