Slicks on a stock rear end and 6- Speed

Ok guys so I have my RSI 17's and I was planning to run a radial but from what I have seen, heard, and looked into... Because my car is not auto I'll spin for days off the line in a radial.
BUT! If I run a slick I would be be better off.
My car's suspension and rear end are completely stock.
I have even replaced the bolts to the drive shaft twice because I keep either breaking them or bending the shit out of them.
So my question is, what chances to I have of breaking with my car being stock on that tire???
