Exclamation Torque converter or transmission rumble?

To start, I have a 2010 Camaro 2SS with the L99 Automatic GL80 transmission. It has just over 60,000 miles.

I bought it from the dealer used last year so I am not the original owner. I hear some slight rumbling when driving so I wanted to clear it with y'all to see if it is normal and for any remedies relating to it.

When driving the car, I will sometimes have a slight rumble. It may seem to be just before the automatic gears shift to a higher one. It's when my foot is just light enough on the pedal that it is about to shift but not enough to fully get there.

The exhaust sound changes to one of like it is covered before it 'clears' out with a slight puff sound once I give the car more gas.

I'm thinking of changing the transmission fluid and rear differential axle fluid soon to see if that will rectify it. Some say it may be the torque converter during one of those 'laggy' spots of it before it stalls and catches but I don't know enough to say for sure.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Same issue I think

I just bought used from the dealer as well. Mine seems to rumble like its trying to find another gear when I'm staying at a steady speed down the road.

I feel some vibration in the shifter as well.

At any rate, this will bump for some answers hopefully.

Solved my issue. It seems the AFM is particularly noisy and erratic in my car. I went into paddle shift mode and the problem was gone. Such a relief it wasn't the transmission. Looks like I will getting a tune to turn off the AFM as soon as possible.

Good luck with your issue and hope the bump helps.

Thanks for the update. For me, it is definately much more noticeable in Auto mode but I still get this stall rumble before it 'catches' and I get an exhaust pop.

I'll see what happens :/
