2SS RS L-99 Headers and Tune
Getting ready to add headers, exhaust, cold air kit, and tune. Have been quoted Dynatech Headers vs American Racing Headers. Does anybody have an opinion as to which brand i should go with. They will also add a thermostat, plugs, wires, and a tune, all for about $4,225.00 The difference in price between the A.R. and Dynatech is marginal. How does this price sound to you guys?

Sounds kinda steep, but I didn't get everything done at one time. Here's my current setup on my L99... and, I am freaking loving it.
ADM Race Intake ADM Intense performance tune ADM Performance quite custom 2.5" exhaust ARH Stainless 1 7/8 headers Makes 360 rwhp and 378tq, and I am running the 1/8th mile is 8.289 @ 87.23mph now to boot!

You need to tell us exactly what you're getting. The price seem a little high, but we don't know exactly what you're getting for that price.
Which intake? Which catback or axle back? Are you getting your car dyno tuned or just a street tune? |

As a parts vendor please note Price is only one varible that should be in your mind.
Buy from someone you trust, a shop who has a DIRECT relationship with the malefactor, so if their are warranty issues, or problems they can be resolved quickly and efficiently. Buy from someone who INSTALLS the parts for sale, so they may help you with the installation process, or answer tech questions. Then Factor in price .American racing headers, have a much nicer collector design, which can yeild a better increase in torque and horsepower, albeit you may not see much on a chassis dyno. Both products are quality made, and fit well. Regards |

I went with the dynatech headers per recommendation of SpeedInc. I installed them myself in my garage in about 3 hours, They fit great, look good and with them and a rotofab cai....and a tune for the intake only I went 12.73@110. So I wont argue there.
As for the plugs and wires....waste of money. Running the stock ignition you wont lose anything by keeping the stockers until they need to be changed. Plus with the NGKs expect to change them a lot. Ive never had a car with a 160 degree thermostat. I just add a bottle of watter wetter and call it a day. My car idles at about 195 when its warm out. Wish I would of remembered the original temps. Is speedinc where you got quoted? |

The prices aren't out of line. But it would be nice if they would cut you a break on the installation costs. Many performance shops will give you a break on installation costs if you buy the parts from them. Because they're already making a profit on the parts they're selling you. |
