What tire should I go with? I've been told to look into the michelin pilots and to stay away from the nittos. I was debating just going Mickey Thompson. I'm looking for a good tire to help grip the road. What are you guys running and what do you suggest?

I've been researching this for about 3 weeks. I settled on the Continental DWS06. Its an all season tire and gets good reviews as far as traction in wet and dry conditions. I was tempted to get the Michelins but they are summer only and cost a lot more and are pretty hard to find.
I am currently running Vredestein Ultras and was very pleased with the ride and grip.
But I am running in the Arkansas Mile in June and decided new rubber was in order.
I ordered the DWSs on a set of black MRR 228 Z28 reproduction wheels.
The Ultras are on a set of Niche Nurburg polished wheels so now I can choose from 3 different sets of tires and wheels as the mood hits me. (I still have the factory polished 5 spokes on the Goodyears)

Where you live and when you drive (fair weather only or DD) is going to shape this issue.

I'm in Toledo and my ZL1 is my DD. As such I run Sottozeroes in the Winter and my Hankook RS-3s go on tomorrow for the summer. We get a lot of seasonal "creep" here meaning you will get the last sub 40s winter temps late into April and the first winter temps in late Sept/Early Oct. Once you get into that temperature range the summer tires are not what you want to be driving on.

I used to run All Seasons on Sedans I had in the past, but I was rock solid this winter in the Sottos. Granted, with the low clearance, I don't generally try to plow through a foot of snow, but in cold temps and variable conditions, they were solid.

I was thinking about getting the BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S for my summer tire to combat the seasonal creep and deal with the rain but I decided to run my Sottos into late April and put them back on in early October. In addition, the BFG tire is still not available and there is no word on when it will be(though I would guess in the next 60 days). We will see how the RS3 does in the rain.

If you need a set of wheels for your winter wheels, the folks at Phastek were very easy to work with.

Everything I know about tires for the ZL1 I learned here. Lots of great information in a number of threads here, and the folks from Tire Rack are also a great resource for all of us.

Thanks guys, the car is strictly a summer car and nice weather. I'm looking for a tire to get the power to the wheels and then to the ground

Just had MPSS 315/35/20s put on the rears, no rubbing so far. They provide good grip, which should only improve as they get worn in a tad more. I would have gone with the 305 M/Ts however my daily commute is about 80-100 miles so those would have been trashed in short order.

Where did you find them? Do you know if they are K1s or K2s?
