Replacement LS3/L99 Engine

All, I managed to kill my manual 2010 SS LS3 engine in the recent floods in Houston and the insurance estimator is proposing to use the following replacement engine.

Engine Assembly, 6.2,8,AUTO,FLR,RWD
Condition: A Year: 2013. Grade: A:Mechanical Mileage: 7500,

Requested Part Option: Engine Assembly 6.2L, VIN W, 8th digit (opt LS3)

My concern is that this looks like a L99 engine, but when I questioned the estimator he said that 8th digit on the VIN is W, same as my original engine and therefore its an LS3.

Does this sound right?

PM me the VIN for the donor car and I will run it through GMs database. It could be a simple typo by the junkyard

Yeah the autos are all L99 thats for sure... And you don't want that seeing as you are a manual. Be curious to see if its a typo as mentioned.

No, LS3 autos exported from Australia in Chevy SS since end of 2013.

Yeah but there aren't very many of those in the boneyard. All you need is a pic of the timing cover and head ID# on the outside. With only 7500 miles, it's practically brand new anyways.

What's the price of that used unit if you don't mind me asking?

Those brand new, crate engine specials, look quite tasty if you shop around smart on the net.
