Heatwrapped Intake
There are different opinions on what this will do. Whether it will trap the heat. Or help. So I'm going to test. At the worst I'm
Out $20. Before the blower/headers made so much heat under the hood it was raising my ambient temp reading and the IAT way over that. With just the headers. I was able to pull 1:1 ambient/IAT ![]() Now with the blower it was much much higher. And I'm sure the LSX block won't help either. So i heatwrapped the tube. The CAI Inc is already a GREAT intake. And is crazy good at keeping the temp down. I just have too much for the ceramic coat to handle (I will be doing a good vent soon as well, to actually address the issue instead of cover it) ![]() ![]() ![]() Tired of waiting trying to make it dry faster ![]() Baked for 30min at 200* and the inside the tube metal Surface was 114. And the outside was 100 flat ![]() LSX376 SLP TVS2300 '13 1LE Full front half protected by Xpel PPF Instagram:@Failshift 603hp/547tq 1LE Owners Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/559684050767758/ |

I've pondered something like this..... Wondering what high boost IAT will look like compared to ambient.

Do you have the ADM scoop for your CAI?

I wouldn't expect to see much change due to the coating the cai intake tube has and since you have air flow coming from a apex scoop vs the stock cai location but I definitely will be waiting to see your results good luck

Yea, I'm in for the results, but willing to bet all you'll notice is lower temps while idling. Driving down the road, I doubt will make any difference since your utilizing an air scoop.

I heat wrapped the intake on my last car. It had a 2.0 turbo and the heat wrap made a huge difference, but I needed reflective tape over the heat wrap to really make it work well. The heat wrap kept ambient heat out and prevented heat soak, and the reflective tape kept the radiant heat from the flaming snail at bay.

Yes it appeared to help. Before I wa generating so much heat it was messing up the ambient. Now the ambient is spot on. It's moved back into the threshold of 1:1 while moving. And still kept it respectable while sitting at the light. I would say worth the $20 definitely.
