LFX Bolt on questions

Hey guys I have a 2013 RS v6 lfx model and wanted to know for bolt on what has been the game changer for you to enjoy your V6 even more.
My car is stock and makes me smile but I wouldn't mind getting her a little more get up and go.

First question how do y'all like the 80mm throttle body?

What kinda intake manifold do y'all run and why?

What kinda tune would y'all recommend

And what kinda exhaust do you got (looking at getting a mrt2 axle back)

Let me know your options guys thanks.

Some kind of cold air intake, CAI, ROTOFAB, K+N, just to name a few. The sound improvement alone is worth it. It does help with HP. and torque. Upgrading the exhaust is another good investment, as they work together to move the air thru the engine. I am installing my 80TB tomorrow and will have more about that on an untuned engine later in the week. Have fun!

Can you explain what you mean by sound improvementwith respect to a cold air intake?

What I did was search and read a lot for about three months. Made a list of exactly every mod I wanted before I even purchased my first. Some mods could have little unexpected drawbacks. Many won't post about it as to not offend the people that bought into it. So do a lot of research before you commit.

With my K+N typhoon, when you accelerate you can hear engine, as the sound silencing that's engineered into the stock air box is no longer there. Even under light acceleratation, like half throttle, you can hear the engine be louder, under wide open throttle it kinda sounds like a old muscle car with the secondaries of the four barrels opening up. It is quite an improved sound.

I only have the 80mm tb that I am putting on tonight. Derek and Shawno72 have his tune package and his E-85 conversion. Derek has the highest bolt on only dyno pull with his setup, 316hp and 247 torque. He is fully bolt on modded. The tune comes with data logging and retunes as long as you own your car. I believe I will go with Overkill when I jump in the tuning pool. Lookup Overkill.com or check out his thread on this section of the forum.
Will the thrill from Overkill!!

See I've been read amazing things about them and love that they retune as long as you have the car. What scares me bout tuning again is.....
I owned a BMW and had a company send me a scanner to read my F/A ratios then they would send me a tune via email to the sanner.
Well it ****ed everything up and ****ing up the whole car costing me couple grand to get right again. Ever since then I have nightmares bout doing tuning again especially since I'm in AZ and have to have everything shipped.
Unless there are dealers here in at that sell overkill products.

I can see/understand your hesitation with getting a canned tune after your Bimmer experience. I feel the same way although I will say that Overkill has great reviews and you would most likely be happy with your results from Will.

I am going to hold out for a dyno tune. Wanted to have Livernois Motorsports tune my car but apparently they are not scheduling dyno tune only appointments until the fall which wont work for me.

I'm going to have New Era Performance (Rochester, NY) tune my car. I would think there has to be a reputable shop somewhere in AZ. Check out the regional forums and ask around for opinions.

I was the first to install the 80mm overkill throttle body, along with the JacFab ported intake manifold. I recommend doing both mods at the same time. However, I cannot speak on how both of these mods improved my performance over stock, since I had the twin turbo setup designed and installed at the same time.

Game changer bolt ons?
JacFab ported manifold and spacer
Overkill 80mm/Tune/e85

And 3.91's.

I would definitely look at Overkill's tuning service. He offers free re-tunes as long as you own the car. Each and every re-tune has gotten better and better with more data that i can log for him. And now my car is an absolute monster (compared to how it was just 4 months ago)
