Charging Systems
What are people doing on c5s for charging system? I never see that discussed in this area. Stock GM alternators are subpar at best, and on a vette and other platforms an alternator upgrade is a great upgrade.
Remember that your fuel pumps flow vastly different at 12V compared to 14.5V. Same with injectors needing spot on data if voltage swings. Stock GM alts are known for going from ~14V to ~12V when hot, which can really mess with a tune. Plus added pumps, fans, etc all draw a good amount of power stressing the factory system. So what are people doing to get steady voltage on a camaro5 platform?

Just had me wondering since every other LS platform has alternator issues, I assume the c5 does too.
Reason I brought this up is my billet tech alternator died yesterday and is going in for repair, so I put a stock alternator back on. Now instead of 14.5V I have 13.8 and ~12.5 when hot which is totally messing with the tune/etc causing it to lean out. OEM delco alternators just can't put out a steady 14.5V, or atleast I've never seen it. Any log voltage on a hot day? Would love to see HP tuner logs. I think you will find between starting and 20+minutes your voltage drops 1-2V.

My DC Power Alternator works very good. Under load my stereo amps can draw 300 amps and it keeps up very good.

Just something people with big builds need to consider, as you add a lot of electrical load, if you cant hold steady voltage, bad stuff can happen. This is also why good injector data is needed. Your tuner may "dial" in without good data on a dyno when alt is putting out 14V but then at 12.5 when car gets hot, it really leans out or richens up because injectors don't have the right voltage offset. People who say their tuners can dial in injectors and don't need data, how are they doing that? Are they hooking the car up to an external power source to tune it at 11-14.5V? Nope, so I never buy the concept that you can tune around not having correct data for injectors.
