P0496 Code

P0496 - The ECM has detected pressure in the EVAP system during a non-purge condition

Has anyone encountered this code before and how did you fix it? The car is not my DD. Have not driven it in a week due to bad weather and the day I start it I get this code. Car seems to run fine but the check engine light just annoys the crap out of me.

Hoping this fix is under the hood and not under the rear of the car
Any help greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue and it was at the rear of the car near the gas tank. Cost me about 700 to fix. I hope it's not the same issue I had. Try the cheap fix first. Change the gas cap & see if that cures it.

Not hard to do, just a little time consuming.

I've swap this part on several Camaros now in around 2 hours.
first time it took me 3-4...

plastic clip holding the old valve to the bracket is a major pain.
I brake the plastic clip holding it since it will be replaced by the new one anyways.

Good luck buddy!
