Video recorder with Data Overlay
Anyone have experience with an easy combination?
I mean eeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaasssssssssssy. It's time for me to re up on technology. I currently use a GoPro1. I want something upper middle that is cost effective along with the ability to data overlay the track, speed, RPM and lap times. What I don't want is to spend hours in the office creating video clips. |

Track Addict is a $9 app for your phone.
Use your phone to record video and gather data. Either use the GPS built into the phone or use an OBDII wireless plug to gather more data. Not the best video, not the best data, but eeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssssy. |

Harrys lap timer looks to be well supported. I like what I see.
If I were to get a Go pro silver, along with harrys lap timer............do I need a GPS/GNSS or OBD II? Basically how do I get all devices to talk with each other? I use my cell phone equipped with Harry's app and GPS, along with an OBD II (that gets plugged into my car) I sync my phone to OBD II for GPS and Harrys app. Then I record video and I suppose I upload video to my home computer along with what was saved on Harrys and somehow over lay. Would I need some editing software? Sound about right? Sounds time consuming. Yes? Just trying to figure how all devices talk |

I do know harrys will sync all the videos together when paired with a go pro, OBD dongle and whatnot. How it does it, I have no idea, I haven't had a chance to make it to the track recently and hook everything in and try it.

Racechrono IMHO is the best...instant data overlay that none of the others do at this price point.
For RC watch this video and more importantly read comments here https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rono.pro&hl=en Here are the inexpensive components to make this work perfect: Racechrono Pro @$19.99 on play store android phone which will provide data/video and realtime predictive timing display http://goo.gl/OmlCn3 get a used 3rd gen Motorola Moto G @$100 for ebay. This will record video to the SD card also. garmin glo for gps @$100 this will provide 10hz gps which is better than the phones 1hz http://goo.gl/vaMdxc for OBD2 obdlink @$50 http://goo.gl/UDNJ0o the will get many more parameters including rpm ram suction mount @$50 http://goo.gl/1Prtcy if you are using your hero for video you do not need this or you could record 2 cameras and the real power of this (Harry's does it too) is the export of .vbo files in to Race Logic's Citcuit Tools for more detailed analysis.
