How safe is it to Use Z/28 Carbon ceramic rotors that got damaged during shipping ?
So I was all happy with my Z/28 Brembo Carbon ceramic brakes purchase until I saw the two rotors I believe the rear ones and found out the have damage. Of course from the damn shipping company UPS.
How safe if it to still use the rotors ? Will they work ? Is it better to get another set ? |

Oh,oh!
Hi Lio,
Just for the record for sure that doesn't look good at all, and you know that they aren't worth your life mounting damaged. Dropped somewhere, or knocked against an object perhaps. I panicked when I tapped the edge of my rotor against the lower control arm when mounting them the first time. Luckily no damage. File a claim and get another set. Where did you obtain them? |

I'm no expert, but I would not use them. UPS should be on the hook. Call the company you bought them from and tell them what happened. If you ship something via UPS you have the option to insure it. I'd be surprised if they don't have such an agreement. Also, if you bought with a credit card, I'd contact them if you aren't able to reach resolution with the seller and/or UPS.

Bought them from a Salvaged Camaro Z/28z but when I got the pics of them off the car they were in perfect condition .
I already told the seller to contact UPS which he did and they are doing a claim. I'm too skeptical to use the. Like that. |

Nope. Don't do it. File a claim with UPS/FedEx and whoever you bought them from.

They are the rotors only correct? Someone might have hacked them up on disassembly of the hats. Some occasions you can crack them when assembling the rotors and over tightening the hardware . They should have not been in that condition.

That stinks!
Coming from a salvaged car, are you sure they were not in that condition prior to shipping? Your pictures are awfully close up to see the damage. Were the sellers pictures that detailed? ALSO if you don't have the packaging they came in UPS will bounce the claim as they will want to confirm they were adequately packed. I would be prepared to contest the charge on the card and return them to the seller as I don't see UPS covering this claim from my experiences with them. Good luck.

I wouldn't be so quick to blame UPS, maybe the seller poorly packaged them.

Not defending UPS as they have damaged stuff in the past on me, but those are odd spots IMO to be damaged from being dropped. I would expect a chip out of the outside edge of the rotor from a drop. If you bought through paypal or credit I think I would just send them back and get refunded.
