Trying to Decide..
Hello everybody,
This is my first post. But here it goes: Like many people here I am trying to decide. I love all kinds of cars, with the exception of some of those people who take Hyundai's and crap like that all out. I hate the obnoxious noises they pollute the air with. But at the end of the day, whats fast is still fast. You know? So my choices that Ive narrowed it down to are the 2010 2SS/RS, an 07-09 Shelby GT500(I hate the 10 Models) and the 03-04 Cobra. All three are amazing. I have decided that the Camaro and Shelby will be White with Black stripes, and all the lights will be blacked out, riding atop black rims and the Cobra doesnt have a color yet. Black,Yellow...Maybe Silver. not sure yet,i just gotta find one still mostly stock and in a good condition. All coupes by the way I am looking to buy one of these 3 this month,Oct. 09, as my 18th bday present to myself. I currently dont drive anything so this is going to be my first car. I love the Camaro and its my favorite of these 3,but not by much. ha There is something about the Camaro, inside and out that I love..Ive gone and looked at a couple and they are something else..No pictures really do them justice until you have seen one in person. I cant lie. They are just absolutely amazing. I love the body lines, the halo headlights, and the reverse mohawk roof. The interior is also down right bada$$ from the bucket seats with the stiched SS to the Retro/Modern gauges..both the Speedo/Odo and the 4-pack cluster by the Shifter. But as of now I have yet to find a dealership that doesnt want 5-10k over sticker..so that sucks..45-47k for a first car is a bit crazy..all I want is the damn sticker price! The Shelby to me would be like driving a piece of history. My brother has a 07 GT with about 25k into it,so I'm familiar with the Mustangs. I often worked on his and his friends 'Stangs. So its kinda what my car knowledge started off with. His friend got a Livernois stroker engine, and rebuilt that. Custom heads,Raceline GT's, Cervinis front bumper and hood. To add to that, his KB Mammoth Kit will be here next week. So I wanta play with them,I figure I cant get a GT is a bit far back now,so why not go up the 500. and give myself a better foundation than them. Lastly the Cobra,i know its a bit old,and may not be seen in the same category as these other 2,but i was always a fan of them..then I rode in my aunts Terminator...and i could just see myself in one of those damn things. The emblems on the side, and knowing me and myself seeing how I've watched one too many YouTube videos..can see the lowered stance with the intercooler in the front just sitting there waiting for me to floor it and hear that whine as the speed goes up But its almost a little outta date for me,I like new things. But seeing how I'm looking to go pretty fast, a KB kit for this is like 3k without install, and parts are cheaper so it'll be way easier to achieve high HP in less time. Thats a huge plus.I am almost ready to go order the 2SS/RS,but a recent trip to Blubonnet Ford looking at a Shelby and A sick 03 Black 'vert Terminator, threw me back into a bit of this hesitant mode. So anybody who has some useful help, your input will be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to the responses, -Ryan |

I think if you are asking those of us that already have our new Camaros what our opinions are, you know what our answers will be....
![]() If you want a fair and unbiased opinion, maybe you should post this question on a "general car enthusiasts' forum", not a Camaro forum, IMHO... Just trying to help you, I think all the cars you listed are fine, but the Camaro, to me, wins HANDS DOWN, BASES LOADED, HOME RUN, GRAND SLAM, PERIOD!!!... ![]() p.s. I am a bit biased towards the Camaro if you've noticed, or read any of my posts...lol...Good luck with whatever car you choose, but I hope you choose the Camaro, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT, IMHO...

Actually this is a easy choice really. The 03-04 cobra while fun as hell to drive but its been around now for 6 years and the interior kills it for me its really cheap 7/10. I have a buddy who owned one and has seen my ride and he would tell you the new camaro blows that car away in looks and interior quality by a large margin. The 2007-2009 cobra great car awesome exterior fast as hell but again interior epic failure its typical ford cheap 8.5/10. Im sorry but GM hit the ball out of the ball park with the new 2010 camaro. For what u get you cant beat it for its price its amazing in every way i have no complaints zippo 10/10. If you want to test drive a car close to the new camaro try the challenger or i think you will like it a lot as well. Just my 2 cents

That would be as bad as asking on a Mustang forum, it's going to be bias more toward's that car as opposed to the other. Your best bet is to drive them all and then sit back and look at each one too decide what's right for you.

You should be able to get a GT500 for around sticker price. You just have to find a more suburban dealer.
If your parents are helping you buy the car, you should get something cheaper than the three listed. These cars can be surprisingly expensive, between gas, insurance, etc. I'd also caution you to get familiar with driving first. 426+ is a whole LOT of horsepower; it's easy to get in a lot of trouble quick. |

Yes,I know it's a Camaro Forum, but there are plenty of people who may have been through what I've been through as far as choices. I've read there posts but its always been Mustang GT, Camaro or Challenger. Ive yet to read one with my 3 car options. I was sure that I'd get primarily Camaro, and I was fine with that. |

The better question to ask is, why should I get a Camaro instead of...?
Forget the poll. |
