Camaro Pricing

Hey guys, Im just another long-time reader with a first time post. I know this may seem like another political opinion question but I would enjoy some of your input. Here are the facts :

THE GOOD - The 2010 camaro

THE BAD - How much dealers are wanting for this car !

THE UGLY - I make little over minimum wage as a lifeguard ... :(

I just found out not to long ago that my parents are willing to par 28k for a new car since Ill be heading off to college next fall. I thank God for such amazing parents and this almost unheard of generosity. I think its mostly because I have a 96 explorer that I have keeped great care of for the past two years but anyway heres my delimma. 28k could get me the 2LT, but im liking the sound of having a 420 hp engine and the options on the 2SS. I would die to get the 2SS but with that and an RS packadge 35k is alot of money. I plan on having 5k saved up by the time Christmas arrives, do you think by then I could negotiate the dealers to take off 2k with a 5k down payment ? possible even after Christmas ?

Thanks !!!!

You might be able to find a dealer accepting a student discount, or another promotion.

Get supplier pricing, and open an account with USAA ($750 off). There's no way you will get under MSRP any other way.

Remember, costs don't end after you buy it. Increased gas prices, higher insurance, higher maintenance costs, etc.

Your parents are putting down 28k? Plus your 5k?

So you'd only have to finance sayyy 3k plus whatever tax and license fees you have.

That's a sweet deal if that's all it is.

If you're after the horsepower then double-check all the features you REALLY want and compare them to being added onto a 1SS. That will shave off a healthy chunk alone just with that.

maybe there would be a few used ones around at that time. Somebody was posting recently they were trying to sell their 2SS with only a few thousand miles on it because they were moving. That's going to knock 3-5K off the price of the car easily the second they drive off the lot.

There are dealers here that are at $1,000 under MSRP already. Demand drops fast for a 6 month car here when its 38 degrees. In december they will only get cheaper.

Would make a great holiday road trip.

Affording the purchase of the car probably won't be a problem for you, but if you haven't done so already, contact your auto insurance agent to get a quote on insurance. The insurance on the SS will almost certainly cost more than on a V6 and if you are on a tight monthly budget, then this plus gas cost (high octane is mandatory for SS) could be a deal killer. But I hope that's not the case.

Have you driven you yet? you would be surprised what the LT does. I bought my first camaro a long time ago, a 2nd gen. Obviously it had a V8. BUT I just got a new one, and I got a 2LT with the RS Pkg. it rocks, its got PLENTY of get up and go, if fact, it has 130 hp MORE then my 2nd gen, and would kick its a$$! not to mention the other things mentioned, lower insurance rates, lower priced gas. and if you will have about 5K to add into what your parents are doing. you can get the 2LT with the RS pkg with no problem. TTL, OUT THE DOOR price would be about $33,400
