P0300, Service Stabilitrak

Hi guys, i'm new here so sorry if this is in the wrong thread.. But I need some help with my car. I drove the car all day yesterday, filled up with gas that morning and towards the end of the day I was on the highway when I saw my "Service Stabilitrak" light go on. The car felt rough, very low on power. I drove it home and scanned it and got a p0308 code. This morning I scanned it again and it gave me the P0300, no P0308. The car only has about 50k miles on it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hey Steve, thanks for the response. I checkes the spark plug wires, they all seem ok. I did remove the throttle body and cleaned that up a bit, but no fix.

P0308 is cylinder #8 misfire. When this usually happen that is the first signs of a stuck lifter event. I experienced this before. Do you hear a low ticking or squeaking sound? I also maybe something else but mostly what I mentioned. I would advise you to not drive the car and have it towed to the dealer hopefully who has a brain and get it diagnosed. Also did you check plugs and maybe the injector. It could also be a leak in the intake system, loose intake tube from what I've read when I had the issue.

I did hear a ticking noise, but it went away the day after. I have not checked plugs or injectors, i'm probably getting it towed to the dealer this morning.

Hey Victor_SS... How did you make out? Had the same issue a few days ago. Hopefully nothing serious?

I was moving my car from the garage to the driveway and once I started it up: Service Stabilitrak and Engine light. Took it to the dealership and it posted the following: P0300 U0401. It was running rough the day before service but stopped the day I took it in. The dealership could not determine the Root Cause? So I'm left guessing and hoping that's it's nothing serious. Trying to convince myself it's nothing serious. I only have 400 miles on my 2016 2SS.

I did not drive the car for a week prior to this happening. Only moving it in and out of the garage 4 or 5 times because we're having new drywall put up... The last time I drove it was a Sunday drive with my wife for only about 20 miles... nothing major. Sometimes not knowing can be worst than knowing. Hoping for a root cause...

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I little update, since taking the car to the dealer they told me it was a broken valve spring on cylinder 8 and 3. It was covered under the warranty, unfortunately they said all my spark plugs were soiled and needed replacement. Along with a fuel system cleaning, which was not covered under the warranty. I gave them the go ahead and about a week later they said that the valve springs were fixed, but they were still getting a cylinder leak on #8. The need to contact the warranty company to see what they would like to do. About a week went by without a call back so I called them. They told me they need an inspector to go and see the car. Today, they inspected the car and they were told they need to remove the heads for further diagnosis, which they needed my approval for. The service manager told me they charge $2,000 for that service, but should be covered inder the warranty unless they see signs of abuse. So thats where I stand as of today. Waiting on another call back.

Had the same issue with my service stabilatrak. Ended up being a slightly bent exhaust valve that wasn't sealing correctly causing a misfire every so often. All of these issues should be covered under warranty unless you are literally beating the crap out of your car. You should not have to pay for a single bit of the processes that they use to make sure the car runs correctly. I would fight every bill that they throw at you.

I've only had the car for about 5 months. Had 2 oil changes. No mods, besides what was on it before I got it. Never abused it, so i'm hoping for the best.

Ok guys, i'm back with an update. I got a call from the dealership saying that the warranty is going to cover a new engine. Pretty happy about that to say the least, but still really curious to know what the hell that valve spring did to require a new engine.

Another update, new engine is in and they said it's misfiring.. I'm truly confused now. How does a new engine misfire? Any opinions?

LS3s greatest engines in the world . My past L99 failed in the hands of the owner after me. My LS3 had a stuck lifter #6 and now is running funny again.
