Thinking About Trading For A CLS550.....Anyone Here Got One?

I can get an awesome deal on a 2010 Mercedes CLS550 with 33K miles. Anyone have experience with these cars?

Do you know of any common issues they have? Im taking it to a Mercedes dealer for a pre-purchase inspection.

Yea I have a price sheet of their "service schedule" every 10k or 20K miles. Im not so concerned with this. Im concerned of a sensor going out every month or the air suspension failing.

But yea a $162 oil change. $529 transmission service. $120 air filter change???

Smart guy won't buy a used Mec, BMW or Audi. Repair/Parts/Service are off the chart. My buddy bought a brand new CLA, and 13k in the auto trans went south, cost 6k under warranty, imaging if you don't have warranty anymore? And on a CLS V8? pff..10K minimal..

If it doesn't have a warranty - run away quickly!

It should also start leaking oil soon and some of those are very expensive to fix.

From a former Benz owner don't do it unless you have cash stashed away....words of wisdom but not from a smart man.......

My neighbor has one. Loves it and absolutely no issues. It's pretty quick too.

I've bought a lot of cars, new & used, in my 73 years.

In 2014 I ordered a new "C" Class Mercedes. I kept it for a month. Lost my hiney on it but I did learn a lot about German cars. Never again!!!!!!

Mostly little stuff, but WAY too many things. Decided we couldn't live with this crap for the 10 years we intended to keep the car.

Got rid of it and replaced with an Infiniti. Probably the best car I've ever owned. We've put 47,000 miles on it in 2 years.

My dad always drove German cars when i was growing up. BMW the worst, Audi not as bad until newer models. He LOVES his Mercrdes out of them all and he didnt have many issues with any hes had BUT when there was an issue, thousands $$$!!! He always got warranties though. I would NEVER touch German or British cars without an extended warranty to cover when something breaks. May not he mechanical, many times it is a sensor or something else electronic that will make you regret everything. So many times i wanted to get rid of my Camaro for a cls amg or a m5 or range rover but my pockets arent fit for those repair bills yet. If you can afford repairs then go for it.

Like the post above...looking for reliable luxury? Go Japanese. Ive had Infiniti and it was the best brand ive ever dealt with. Had Lexus righr after that and it was amazing as well..not like Infiniti but their customer service is the best.

I work at a German car dealership.

Don't buy a German car unless it's new and you have a full warranty. Even if you get an aftermarket warranty - stay away.
